Is there going to be open world content ever? Have I missed news or anything related?

This is a call out to answers from devs. I'm tired of spending money on this game to raid and gear grind (just being honest). A lot of people find this fun and rewarding and I'm happy for them and you for the success of this game but there are still a lot of FF players who don't enjoy that aspect as much and are being patient.

Is there ever going to be an update to the equivalent of "sky" from ffxi that released a large open world with bosses, farming, questing, story, and even socializing with your FC. I find farming, large bosses and strategy with an FC just as or even more so rewarding than dungeon and gear grinding.

I'm tired of supporting and waiting. I'd wager I'm not the only one. Just say whether or not there is a plan for anything of the sort. If there is no talk I'm out, simple as that.

My sub is not being renewed, my last two payments have been with crysta because I knew it was gonna come down to this eventually. I'm bored of this style of gaming.

If you keep supporting and playing this game kudos to you but I just can't anymore. Since the time I started playing this game up till now (6 months?) I have only made like 3 friends and have been shuffling through FC's since launch. I think this is largely due to the dutyfinder aspect of this game with no creative open world content.

My gaming PoV is like that too... gonna give this game 1 yr mark(Sep2014). If it doesn't show any promise... i guess it will eventually fade out of my playtime.... i mean it already is.

Sadly, mentioning overworld content here is usually met with people tossing around FFXI hate and telling you to go back to FFXI. Otherwise, we end up with FATE grinding they defend. This type of MMO isn't designed for Overworld as much as I'd enjoy it which is why the whole "build your own airship/ship" type of stuff makes absolutely no sense when the current ones are just cutscenes compared to XI/1.x where they were actual ride with the potential to throw in content - FFXI, a 2002 PS2 MMO managed to properly "scale down" the world to simiulate travel, why can't a 2013 PC/PS3 2014 PS4 MMO manage it? It's definitely not "PS3 limitations" lol.

Have to agree that the lack of openworld content made me cancel, well that and payed retainers.

But as it is now, LS/FC's don't really bond that much, they just form those 8man groups inside it.

In XI you could drag your entire LS to Sky and then rotate the members between fights. That also made the farming pop items fun most of the time.

I think you should move on. 1.0 ended its run -similar- to the XI community and events you hope for....we all know how that ended. I'd love a sky, or dynamis...but WoW doesnt have them =(

I never had the chance to know Sky/sea, but I'd definitively love more open world Content. I have no issue with FATEs, but only them.... it's pretty poor content wise

Besides FATEs there is Treasure Hunting and Beastman Quests. There is also in 2.3 PvP Frontlines ( which is a BIG zone *not sure if instance or not*). There is open world content, it's just coming at a slow rate atm. However they are at least showing signs that they are trying to do just that.

The reason XIV airship rides are CS is because the WoW generation won't tolerate standing around on an airship deck watching the scenery. Sane reason the game is littered with teleports. When you mention Sky keep in mind that was an expansion zone. Everything else was just wide open spaces with trash mobs and annoying lottery NMs worse than FATEs.

pvp warfronts don't count as open world content because a majority don't play FF games for pvp
Not seen any signs at all of open world content coming, kinda proved that with making relic upgrade and endless list of fates
I loved sky loved sea but hated abyssea in XI, and none of the great things in Xi show any sort of sign of moving to here sadly

guess you don't watch the live letters yoshi p has been saying he is adding more and more open world content as we go.

already have dailies, treasure hunts, and now the zodiac weapon quest.

and we will get more as it goes.
