PS3 Players are Handicapped

Your PS3 is not the reason you have lag. You're lag is attributed to your connection speed from your ISP, the connection to your router(or modem if you connect to it directly), and you're connection to the servers.

FYI, suggesting that square drop PS3 support in the next month is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard anyone on these forums say. You have no business sense, and those that agree with you on it are the same. The PS3 version of the game outsold the PC version by a LARGE margin. you drop PS3 today, or tomorrow, or anytime before the next patch, and guess what, you will lose a massive number of subscribers. And to make it clear, dropping support for PS3 doesn't mean you can't play, until the next patch that is. Yes, you guys failed to realize that when the next patch would come, NO ONE on PS3 would be able to play the game anymore. So not only did you lose subs for dropping support, but now you've just lost half of your game's subscribers in total.

Oh, and a another FYI, putting PS3 players on a separate server after dropping support for PS3 is still NOT A SOLUTION. You would have to be brain dead to think that PS3 players would put up with only being stuck at patch 2.2 for the rest of the game's life, while everyone else gets more content. And don't use the "well they can switch to PC/PS4", because that is NOT a valid excuse. Forcing a player to switch systems to continue playing a game they were playing already is a way of saying "hey guys, we don't care about you, so please unsub". Many people bought the game for PS3 out of choice, not because they were limited to it.

I swear, I must enjoy punishing myself by coming back to these forums to read all the stupid people exude onto the forums.

People who can't afford a PS4 or a PC should be more worried about finishing school or getting a real job instead of gaming.

Uh, you need to pull your head from your bum. Some people can't afford a PS4 or better PC not because they're in school or need a real job. Some people have things called PRIORITIES! You used that word, but used the worst example of it. Some people have kids, or family members they care for. Some people have had difficulties arise, some people are forced to give money to a POS ex. There are more reasons to not be able to afford certain things then are reasons to afford them. You sir may need to grow up and get out into the world first before realizing that.

Sometimes it's caused by network latency, sometimes it's caused by packet loss, and sometimes (as is the case with many Playstation 3 players) it's caused by Blu-ray or HDD bottlenecking. This is why you hear so many people saying that replacing the HDD inside of their PS3 with an SSD greatly improved the experience they had with the game, because the game can read unloaded assets into RAM more quickly from a solid state drive than it can from a hard drive or Blu-ray disc.

I am aware, my explanation was more of a general one for all games. Dark Souls 2, for example, feels quite "laggy" on PS3 in that menus will frequently not open for a few seconds after you press the controller button and sound effects are sometimes delayed as they're being streamed in from the disk, both of which have absolutely nothing to do with network latency. It does read from a rather slow (provided it hasn't been upgraded by the user) 5200 RPM hard drive, however, which is slower and has much higher latency than a solid state drive.

The reason PS2 was never dropped for FFXI was because a large part of the Japanese player base was glued to the console. With Xbox not really catching on over there the console players had no other option if they didn't want to play on the PC.

LOL this thread makes me laugh..I play ps3 and yet I do better than every PC player it seems. Run Titan and Garuda first time..PC players wipe us..I never get caught in AOEs or anything else for that matter. Even got into a giant FATE with way to many people and I still reacted in time. Stop acting like we cannot play the game right because I see just as many stupid PC players as probable ps3 players. Am I going to upgrade to ps4 when I get one? Yes. But not going to not play because you think I am handicapped.

Yes an SSD is better, and can greatly improve things, however, if your HDD on a PS3 is causing you issues, it's not do to bottlenecking, more so when most of the game is run server side. If your having issues related to your harddrive on PS3, then it's time for a new harddrive period. There is not enough of the game being run directly off of the harddrive to cause bottlenecking. Because of the type of game this is, what do you think is truly the actual problem, bottlenecking or just a bad connection or connection component?

Then explain why on the same connection I had an extra 2-3 seconds in every situation to react? Sometimes it increase my time from nothing and no chance to avoid damage to plenty of time. Same connection speed. Also, please find some facts before you spew your opinions as fact. I do not believe that there are more PS3 players than PC. No way. They have already said they will be ending support after the expansion some time next year. I am just saying that they need to do it earlier. Also, what makes you think that the ALL PS3 players will be ready and waiting for the new content and disappointed when they can't play it? Most will not have cleared coil or even leviathan for that matter. I would be willing to bet you have to beat leviathan to progress to any part of 2.3 and on. PS3 is last generation hardware and it will be unable to keep up with PS4 and PC. I have seen the light because I played PS4. You don't notice the difference or even think there is an issue until you see whats out there that is far better.
