I just laughed out loud! So I have been gimped this whole time playing on the PS3..., , funny thing is... I have no trouble with any content. Maybe it is skill, just maybe it is skill!

You don't notice it until you play on something better. I didn't. I called it "lag" when I clearly got out of something and it still killed me. It was PS3 driving the struggle bus.

Um, no. I just played the PS4 Beta PH2 and I played the same exact way and had no issues. I did not lag, I did not feel gimped, I noticed not much of a difference really. Except the true beauty of it in 1080! So chalk it up to skill, yup skill.

They're already trying to phase it out PS3 by giving you an opportunity to upgrade to PS4 version for free before the end of the year. It is likely that we may see a phase out about 6 months into the first expansion if the PS4 numbers start drastically taking over the PS3. I say 6 months as we don't know if the first expansion would auto upgrade along with the base game to the PS4. If the upgrade system applied to expansions, I could see it in 3 months depending on PS4 numbers then.

If the PS3 numbers were less than 10% of the user total, I could see a justification to phase it out with ample warning (3 months in advance at the very minimum) and an incentive to upgrade like transferring licences of the base game and expansion to either platform. Until it is a very, VERY small minority, it just wouldn't be a smart move to throw away a huge chunk of change by phasing out subscribing PS3 players.

Y: At this moment, we've already begun work on the expansion pack, and I can tell you that at the very least the PS3 version will be supported up to that point.
Q: Does that mean there's a possibility that PS3 users will no longer be able to continue playing beyond that expansion?
Y: It may be a possibility in the future.
Q: How far off in the future are we talking about here?
Y: That will depend on how long people continue to play on the PS3. I've mentioned in the presentation this morning that I want to make sure that "FFXIV continues to innovate", and there's certainly the possibility that whatever innovation we seek will come with certain technical requirements. For example in EQN, which I mentioned earlier, it would not be possible to realize certain things like physic-based gameplay without meeting the hardware prerequisites. So if this becomes something that players want and we start to see people leave for rival products, then we can't just sit around twiddling our thumbs either. After all, we too need to ensure we have the necessary weapons to take on other MMORPGs in the future.
For example, if we were to have a large-scale FATE where players can ride on a flying mount and freely fly around and swoop down at a dragon that is 200 meters long, players would probably be impressed and entertained. However, it would also require us to raise the minimum requirement when it comes to hardware specs.
Our aim has always been to develop the game so that players can have the same experience no matter which hardware they play on. However, if we were to become too fixated on this and become unable to innovate, then this will cease to be a FF game. So I do not plan to say that we will support the PS3 version forever. At the same time, I'm not saying that we'll be ending support by next year or anything like that either, so don't worry.

As someone that plays both PS3/PC, it is noticeable. Will it stop me from playing both as long as it is supported (or until I get a PS4), nope.

Seriously don't speak for all of us. That is your own experience, and what you've went through while playing on PS3, that's fine. I won't be getting a PS4 for a couple more months now and if they were to stop support in only a months time, I'd be screwed out of gaming time for a good couple of months. I'm sorry that your PS3 experience hasn't been the most pleasant, but some of us haven't had quite so bad. I'm on T6 now, doing Leviathan Ex, and have yet to enter any kind of content I couldn't clear, solely because I was on PS3. Now I'm all for them dropping it even in a min. of a years time, but the reality is there are more people then just me who will keep their PS3 copies going for much longer more than likely, and I'm not quite sure how fair, or how smart it would be to drop the support so fast, when SE's other game (not even mentioning the name.......) has yet to drop PS2 support, but only limited the where copies of the latest expansion were sold strictly to Japan.

So you want SE to lose a large number of their subscribers, and pay the ones that stay $100? Sounds like a great business decision.
