I think giving it four to five years time, it we be irrelevant. And might hold back the game in some instants.

Generally the idiots making comments like that aren't old enough to buy their own computers anyway so it's more of a, "My parents have more money than your parents!" observation and should be treated with the level of respect you'd afford such an infantile viewpoint.
I'm on PS3 and I was able to do content smoothly up to T4, and FF14 will be the reason I shift to PS4 and I can't wait to see things get better and better. So happy about all the positive feedback from beta users!
This in not an issue and in no way similar to 11. FFXI was built around the Ps2 and was ported over So regardless if they dropped Ps2 or not it would still have limitations unless they did a full re program. FFXIV was built for PC it can be ported to other versions and they have started they will drop versions to move the game forward. So your statement has no relevance to 14.
The reason we have problems is because the ps3 has a pathetic amount of ram. 512mb split between video and system memory. The ps4 has 8 gigs, 4 of which is dedicated to gaming. Ram will not be an issue going forward at all. The ps4 will stand the test of time far better than the ps2 did for XI, and far better than the ps3 did for XIV.
There have been numerous times in the live letters where Yoshi-p has openly admitted they had to hold certain features back due to the ps3. This is pretty well documented.
