I rarely saw this type of behavior when I was on Mandragora, but start seeing this type of things when I came to Balmung.

It's not just to stop the early dungeons nor does that really make anyone a douche... Trying to let that go. But wouldn't YOU like to see a myth reward at the end after you have capped? Can't say that wouldn't be nice.
