DRG Do you put jump in your rotation?

I've been having some trouble with jump in end game content like Ultima hard mode. Specifically it gets me killed. When I use jump, I'm frozen in place for a few seconds and in a position heavy battle like that, I end up getting myself killed. It's gotten to the point where my jump skills have become used to cover long gaps or just to get an enemies attention and not so much doing Dps.

How do you guys use jump skills? Do yyou use them as soon as they pop or do you save them for when they are strategically viable?

Its all about learning the fight and knowing when and when NOT to use it. it should not be part of a players rotation per say but you should use it when you know you wont get killed. Cant recall if its on the GCD or not. just starting to pick up my drg again XD

Last I checked the optimized DRG rotation is um...

    HT-IR-ID-BFB-Dis-Sweep-CT-PS-Ph-Jump-TT-VT-LS-FT-HT-TT-VT-Sweep-FT-Ph-ID-Dis-CT-HT-TT-VT-Sweep-FT-Ph-Jump-TT-VT-FT

But like Axle said, if you're just learning a fight, it might be best to only Jump once you're comfortable with the fight and know the timing for most stuff. Otherwise, just try to use it in the rotation above shortly after the boss does some aoe attack that would require a DPS to dodge.

There's no reason not to use it at all when you know you're safe using it.

Most bosses will not chain abilities back to back. Generally try to use jump right after the moment the boss finishes using one ability if you are unfamiliar with boss rotations.

The difference between a good DRG and a bad one is that a good one knows when to Jump. Not during an AoE attack or when you could get hit by a sweeping melee, I usually incorporate them when Life Surge or Power Surge is ready, one goes with Jump since that often does more than Spineshatter Dive, and then Jump again, and then Power Surge is back up. Focusing on your rotations should be first, if all of those are up then go for it.

Like others have said, utilizing Jump purely depends on the fight.

I use all 3 Jumps as often as possible (taking out Spineshatter when necessary)
Once you learn the fight, it gets to the point where you know exactly when it's safe to use the Jump skills.

All in all, use Jump, but make sure you're aware of what's going on.
