Counter Skill on mobs miss too please! not only on evade

Technically speaking when the mob misses you the mob took their strike at you and missed, so by doing that their stance should be broken and you as a pugilist should be able to counter that as well... right?

Evading alone isn't bad imo but just doesn't make sense to me why you can't counter when mobs misses you... they are basically same thing imo.

It's a bit tight but you can use both in one evade~

Not really. Missing and evading are different things.

Miss = The monster missed you.
Evade = The monster attack was succefull, but you evaded it.

Its like dodgeball...if the ball went at your direction and you evaded it, then its evade...if the dude was able to toss the tall 3 feet away from you, then he missed...basically the points is who did the action...the monster missed or you evaded.

OK if it was dodgeball in FFXI (range attack) sure if you miss or evade either way you wont be able to counter because you have some distance in between the mob and you.

I'm talking about close range combat; when the mob is right by you. I wrote this specifically in Puglist section of this forum since this thread topic is for Puglist's counter moves thus being close range combat. Has nothing to do with long range.

When the mob makes his/her/it's move to attack physically the mob can't stand still and attack he/she/it has to move towards the player to hit the player OR swing their weapon/parts at you on the spot.

If the mob being a humanoid monster; it will probably step in (closer to the player) and swinging weapon (or just swing at the spot), if the mob is like dodo again if you think realistically dodo has to step towards you and swing its beak to stab you (again unless it wants to stand still and swing)... now either the mob misses or you evade, the mob moved in to attack and because of the miss/evasion it breaks his/her/it's stance and that should give you a chance for counter strike.

Dodgeball was an example. But seems like you didn't understand it at all ^^: its all about who performed the action.

Its like kendo, where you need to parry in a certain way or avoid an attack in a certain way to be able to properly use a counter move. If the dude is retard and just hit the air (AKA missed you) this still wouldn't be enough for you to catch him in the proper position for countering.

Think of it this way, you cant counter every time an opponent miss in a boxing match.
You have to aim for the counter, aka "evade" the hit first and then counter it.
Something like that happens into the game :P

What I have problem with is that you can sometimes "Miss" the counter, IMO a counter hit should be 100% hitting.

You can use Feint despite whether the mob evaded or you missed them. So why not use the same mechanic for evasion-dependent skills?
