Upcoming Patches

Hi, where can I get information about upcoming patches, specifically things like:

- When is patch 2.25?
- What kinds of things will 2.25 contain?
- When is the first planned expansion?

The reason I ask is that I saw somewhere that 2.3 is more CT, 2.4 more Coil, etc. But then I saw something about 2.25. That's not going to be a major content patch like 2.3 and 2.4 is it?

I still have a TON to do from 2.2, just wondered how much time I have to do it before the next batch of new content.

Major Update is every 3 months (if there are no issues to hold it back like what happened to 2.1)

and

we will get 1 expansion every 2 years.

We are hitting 1 year of the timeframe soon so 1st expansion is around mid or later 2015 after 2.4 or 2.5 or 2.6.

Q40: This might be a bit early to ask, but could you tell us any plans for an expansion?

A40: As we just mentioned before about the addition of a new race, we are looking into this for the first expansion, which we would like to release within two years of launch.

It is in this article Yoshi-P announced Major Updates are in a 2.5 month timeframe for their release as well.

Q45: How often are you planning to update the game after the official release of A Realm Reborn? Also, will you be introducing mini-scenarios not tied to the main scenario during these updates?

A45: We are currently planning to introduce major updates once every 2 and a half months. As far as mini-scenario goes, yes, we will be implementing mini-scenarios as well. Gilgamesh, which we introduced earlier, will be introduced through a mini-scenario.

FFXI had a 1-2 year per expansion ( in it's prime of course).

The "We would like to have an expansion out within 2 years from launch" Keyword here is "within", meaning they want to have an expansion out at the latest 2 years, but if we can get it out earlier than that they will.

Yes the Timeframe is certainly within 2 years which is why I did say 1st expansion should be around after 2.4, 2.5 or 2.6 which is within the 1 year to 2 years timeframe.

However, how much they finish is unknown since they did mention 1st expansion content will be big as 2.0 content.

This could imply we are looking at more than just Ishgard, Ala Mhigo, and Sharlayan for new areas and among other things in 1st expansion.

Major patches (ie. 2.X) are every 3 months. They usually toss in some things that have either been requested or they finished and are able to implement early in minor patches (ie. 2.2X) that often appear midway between major patches (~6-7 weeks after a major patch). With 2.25, while they haven't given a specific time frame that I'm aware of, it's generally assumed to be the beginning to middle of May. From what I recall the only hard information they've given us about that patch is that it will extend the zodiac weapon quest that was released in 2.2.

SE has said that they will begin talking about the first expansion in more detail after the game launches in China (this summer). I'm not sure where they said every 2 years, but I've seen people mention that time frame and it seems fairly reasonable. Might be a bit sooner or later. They've stated that they're working on it already in any case and that they're aiming for it to include as much content as 2.0 did upon release.

OP we will get a major patch every 3 to 3 1/2 months.

Just a rough guess.
2.3 June/July
2.4 Sep./Oct.
2.5 Dec./Jan.

As for 2.25 probably late next month. They can also do little patches in between major like 2.15 they added a little bit of stuff and 2.25 will be some extra stuff like the next step in upgrading our relics. So I would assume that they may add a small patch every .5 patches.


As for 3.0 the first Expansion that will probably be mid to late 2015.
