    @raid

    (There’s no guarantee all future instances will fit the definition of “dungeon,” and it’d just be ridiculous and flat out wrong to call something that isn’t a dungeon a dungeon, right? But even a small party of people can raid a given location, dungeon or otherwise. Just sayin’.)
    If you raid a fridge, do you call the fridge a raid? No you don't.
    If you raid Fort Knox, do you call Fort Knox a raid? No you don't.
    If you raid Iraq, do you call Iraq a raid? No you don't.

    Just sayin’

    If you saying the reason he called the 8 man dungeon "raid" is maybe it's because the max party is 8? which = max people within the dungeon which then = raid top of that it the endgame event for us right now. I bet when we get level cap 60 it wont be much of a raid anymore.

    Wiki says:
    -Raid (military), a sudden attack behind an enemy's lines without the intention of holding ground
    -Raid (gaming), a type of mission in a video game where a very large number of people combine forces to defeat a powerful enemy
    -Panty raid, a prankish raid by male college students on the living quarters of female students to steal panties as trophies lol
    There's more meanings of "Raid" but I don't think they matter.

    Yes, use of the word 'raid' is misunderstood by many.

    While we can be going to a raid, the raid isn't the actual location itself. It's more going to participate in the activity of raiding at said location. When it is said "we're going to a raid" it's meant in the context of going to participate in the activity at that location, not calling the location itself a raid.

    Unfortunately as this term is used in MMO's and people see it used for the first time they take it to mean that the location itself is a raid. This misunderstanding of the term is becoming much wider spread.

    To use an example of a very similar word, it's like saying "I'm going to a protest". A protest isn't the location but the activity, yet people don't misunderstand this term as it's not frequenty used in MMO's to have it's meaning skewed.

    Maybe we should try to find a replacement word for "small-group contents that may or may not be indoor and may or may not be instanced but that can't be called a raid anyway due to their size".

    You're not allowed to use dictionary definitions as it kills the argument that it's being misused.
