Any tips for semi-reliably crafting 2* items for new main hand?

So I decided to go for the CLN main hand first and I'm smashing my face on the keyboard trying to get good HQ rates on the "Spicy Tomato Relish". My CLN gear stands at:

    Craftmanship: 356
    Control: 359

First and foremost, the old standby "100% HQ, Zero RNG 2*" method doesn't cut it anymore. I have since attempted to open up with the standard comfort zone and inner quiet. I then proceed to use steady hand II> Ingenuity II> piece by piece (x1)> rapid synthesis (until I am successful just once). With this method and based on my stats above, I get to 359/419 progress. From there I've been fumbling around with all sorts of methods that don't get me high enough of an HQ% to reliably finish. Does anyone have any input?

    Thanks everyone.

Wish I could give any advice on doing it from NQ, but I can't. The only consistent way I've tried is HQing the mats, then starting off at ~50% HQ and using a Hasty Touch spam method. With full HQ mats it's pretty consistent, you just need to leave 4 or so turns to complete the item after 100%.

For some reason, I had a harder time HQ'ing the Twinthread than I did the Vanya Silk (so far, that's the only one I've gotten the philo tome mats for). Don't recall my stats, but I'm wearing the generic stuff, not the class specific stuff, and barely meet the requirements for 2 star crafting.

Comfort Zone, Inner Quiet, Ingenuity, Careful Synthesis 2, Steady Hand 2, Waste Not, 4 Hasty Touch, Manipulation, Steady Hand 2, Waste Not, 4 Hasty Touch, Best Touch, Careful Synthesis 2.

I took the "standard" 40 Durability recipe and added in the Ingenuity moves. This allowed me to finish the recipe in 2 (rather than 3) Careful Synthesis 2 moves. It also required that I get two Tricks of the Trade procs, in order to afford a second Ingenuity during the "Best Touch" sequence. I was willing to accept a Tricks of the Trade proc during the second Waste Not.

I had 4 of 10 Twinthread get HQ with that method. I had 5 of 5 Vanya Silk get HQ with that method. My next step is going to have to be getting the Alchemy Master tome, as that one looks to be key to several classes.

yeah, I need to HQ mats to consistenly HQ the craft turn ins.

was doing some silver brocade. I start by mining my own ore/effervescent water and gathering my own cocoons, all HQ. With that its easy to HQ the twinthread and silver ingots, and from there I've been able to get about 9/10 HQ for the silver brocade.

I finished my 50 HQ mats today. I mainly did them with 1 HQ mat, which was relatively easy enough to do. Here's how I did it, with nearly pre-weapon maxed character and CP food (you want 370+ CP):

CZ > IQ > WN2 > (SH2 > Hasty spam until all WN2 stacks are gone) > CZ > SH2 > Hasty Touch > Hasty Touch > Master's Mend II > at this point, make a judgement call depending on how many stacks you got of IQ - with 10 stacks you can Great Strides > Ingenuity II > Byregot's Blessing > CSII X4.

The goal is to get to 10 stacks while having enough turns and CP left over to finish the progress. Use Tricks of the Trade liberally except for within the Waste Not II, where you don't want to mess with any turns or you'll lose a vital turn.

With HQ materials you can easily get about 90%+ HQ if you have most other crafts at 50. That's with less craft/control than you have and 373 cp. I came up with a quick rotation in about 10 minutes that I put into a couple of macros. I'm sure it's not optimum, but I was 10 for 10 HQ making the Spicy Tomato Relish for the Artisan's Spectacles (wasn't much of a gain for most of my crafters who already had melded hats, but wth). I use HQ fish soup for +CP. Craft/control was 348/330.

Like I said, just came up with that quick to get my HQ Spicy Tomato Relish. It definitely needs work before doing anything with expensive materials...with the Relish the materials are all cheap and easy to make or harvest HQ. I haven't done any class except CUL so far. I'll have to try Sleigh's method next time. Maybe I can get away with 4 CS2's under ING2 and drop the Piece by Piece, have to see...that would free up 15 CP. GS-INN-ING2-BB-CS2-CS2-CS2-CS2....the crafting simulator says that works with craft 348, but fails with 347, so that saves 15CP for something else. Come up with another 7CP to go with that and put a SH before the GS to boost BB to 100%...time to go play with the crafting simulator...

ETA: Playing around with the crafting simulator. craft/control 348/338 CP 380
    CZ-IQ-WN-SH2-BT-BT-BT-HT-HT-Manipulation-SH2-HT-HT-HT-SH-GS-INN-ING2-BB-CS2-CS2-CS2-CS2
Change a BT to HT to drop needed CP to 362.

***Did some testing...the crafting simulator said craft 348 should work ok with CS2x4, but in actuality I only got 103 for each CS2, so synthesis failed. Bumped up my craft to 352 and got 105 per CS2, so that works fine.***

ETA2: Here's what I'm currently liking. craft/control 352/338. Need only 357 CP. Replace last HT with a BT if you have 375 CP.

I can confirm that it's somewhere in that range, 347 gets you 104 with CSII, and 352 gets you 106. You need 105 to finish with 4 CSII with INGII up.

I was at about 75% HQ rate using hasty spam with all NQ materials, 352 Craft, 345 Control, 391 CP. Take out the first few getting my rotation down and the synths without food, and I was closer to 80-85% HQ rate.

I tried a CS2x4 synthesis with 348 craft and it failed, since I actually only got 103 per CS4, in spite of what the simulator estimated. I'm getting 105 with 352 craft, so it's odd we differ slightly.

I just double checked and my cook had a CP+4 instead of control+2 for a meld, so it was 104@351, 106@356

Based this off a reddit post, and altered it to fit mine. There's room for improvement, but it's macroable and is always the same rotation, can suck if your byregot's on a poor though.

    348 cp, hq fish soup.

    Comfort Zone
    Inner Quiet
    Steady Hands II
    Hasty Touch - X4
    Piece by Piece
    Steady Hands II
    Hasty Touch - X2
    Comfort Zone
    Master's Mend II
    Hasty Touch - X1
Gamble here, Hasty Touch X1 with no steady hand
Standard Touch x1 (32 CP one)
    Great Strides
    Steady Hand I (not II)
    Ingenuity
    Byregot's Blessing
    Careful Synthesis X3

All my gears are max meld, and offhand is 11Control,6Craft,3CP.
