Does anyone else miss peaple asking you for help?

I have been playing this game since beta phase 3 everyday and have literally only received one tell very briefly asking me "What am I doing". That was the only tell I had ever received in what 9 months now...

I have never turned /anon on so everyone can see my stuff in the search. I even have had "Titan HM Please assist, do you need any help" in my coment box for about a month now, still no tell.

The only thing I have ever seen asked in the area chat would be "revive please at location" or Join fate/atma party. Other than that no one needs anything.

In my ffxi days, you never new who you would run into. Some days people would even need me and send me a tell ingame. EX. one time I changed to bard and 5 minutes later I got a random tell to join a blm burn party.

I really miss the days were I would get a random tell from someone asking for my assistance. Maybe if I put "Do you need any help" in my search comment box, someone might ask then...

Anyone else have this issue, where no one seems to need your help anymore?

i dont wait people ask for help
i sometimes look at someone search info like what class they got and what equipment they wear now
then i give advice and teach them one or two thing

also i help some random guy finish fate since he/she solo it when i run around do my thing
i even leave my leve sometimes just help he/she finish quest from fate

No, I can't say i miss being begged to run people through easy/low level content.

It's actually quite refreshing to not be bothered by hundreds of randoms via tells demanding that i should help them because i have good gear.
I'll help people who ask for Relic Primals, but mostly because I like those fights. Except when they put up an ilvl restriction beyond what my Relic PLD/WAR/MNK/SCH has, like the guy who demanded an ilvl80 Tank for Titan HM. Heh.

I see your point. I haven't really thought about it, but I sure wouldn't mind people asking for help. I have helped out a few people who didn't ask for it, and made friends that way. Mainly crafting gear for people; like this one guy, I was queuing for my first Ifrit HM and this guy was standing next to me, wanting to do the same primal. I checked his gear and noticed his iLvl was too low to get entrance to the fight. Me being a crafter, I offered to make him gear with high enough iLlvl to get in, and I told him he didn't have to pay for it. (I had plenty of mats lying around, anyway). He payed me quite well anyway, and then we went ahead and did Ifrit HM together. Still on my friend's list.

Sometime if I see someone maybe fighting too many mobs in open world, I'll help them out of a bind. On the flip side, I was fate grinding for ATMA the other day, and a WM started healing me, not even in my party. That was huge to me cause as we all know, they don't get credit for heals. Never did a search on anyone before to see if they needed help.

While on my whm in a main city yesterday I was asked if I could help out with a guild heist. I hadn't unlocked that one yet so I politely declined and told who asked if they ever needed anything I could help with I would be happy to lend a hand. The person asking thanked me for being so polite saying they wished the other healers they asked would have responded in such a way. I'm sure there's tonnes of people needing help, they're just too afraid to ask because of those jerks who decide even askin then for help is a waste of their time. Search comments and random shouts if you're feeling up to it will let people know you're willing to help. Makes me sad people have become afraid to ask for help :/

You Sir, are a ray of hope to us lower levels looking for help, Whilst most High Level users are Farming ATMA for better weapons (Of which I don't blame them) us lower levels are finding it more difficult to find assistance, couple that with the need to keep "Tell" off due to the relentless RMT Adverts it looks as though it will be a long time before I personally make it to something like Garuda Extreme, if my rate of progress doesn't change soon I'm looking at Mid 2015. Most FC's just want people who can run end game stuff, even though they'll advertise they help lower levels, again, you cant blame them, they want an FC house.
If SE were to create a 2 tier service where, say anyone on, or above level 60 has to play on a level 60+ server (unless they want to help people under level 60) and anyone under level 60 would play on an under level 60 server, I think that would encourage more of the lower level players to ask people like yourself for help.

People still ask me for help almost daily, I oblidge where I can.

Some of the people I've helped whether they were level 5 or 50 came back and thanked me or met me in a party and recalled my name from months ago (even if my memory fails me on who they were).
A few who I taught their basic rotations said without that little bit of help they'd have never bothered trying The Binding Coil of Bahamut originally.


There's tons of people looking for help, sometimes they'll ask, sometimes they won't.


Sadly 2.0's community isn't anywhere near as small as 1.23 where if your reputation would a bad (or good) one it'd ripple to and fro across the server.
(From experience in 1.23 showing you could help with a nice attitude made for a better experience all over, in 2.0 it's less-so.)

I'm an absolute a*****e too there's plenty who can testify to that. (I've found 2.0 has brought more the A-hole out in people than the good they had in 1.23)
