I didn't realise you could click the Aetheryte in the plaza of the capital cities to access the aethernet until about a month ago. I'd been teleporting to cities, and then legging it to the nearest aethernet shard since launch.

This one seems to be a common theme. I was guilty of it also until a FC said something not too long ago. I was SOOOO EXCITED!. lol.
