Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

All Right! We can haz patch date. Really excited for this updateThough honestly, a little later than I expected, but perhaps it is a step to lesson the amount of "grey" time between 1.18-1.19, it seemed he was worried about that period himself, where we would be playing in-between unpolished systems.
I can only imagine the heat Yoshi is getting from his superiors for this long time between patches, so there is really no reason for us to give him a second thrashing! Besides, even though we are lowly forum-goers, a little support to the dev team can go a long way. I do not think he was given 200 stout men, 500 million yen, and told "take your time Yoshi! let us know when you think it is ready to charge, call us- we wont call you, just let us know anything you need."
I am not Yoshi's boss (surprise), so I will not say what I think is an acceptable time table to follow, or how he should be running things, because really I have no clue what's going on over there. I shall only stick to my arduous role of adventuring! and giving feedback on the patches themselves, and not give feedback on the Letters From the Producer and on the dates when we get the patches.
And please realize we are no replacement for a professional QA team. A bad day at QA testing could easily have you submitting 2-300 bug reports, and sorting them based on severity from cosmetic to omg my computer is on fire! and each needing a highly detailed report. Dunno bout you guys, but I don't want to do that for free lol I'll wait gladly for the polished patches![]()

(Work for someone else not SE)..

I suppose we could go one step further and say, 1 is the begining and 31 is the end and Yoshi P. gets a pretty big window.. lol

People need to stop bad mouthing Tanaka so much.. The man is a Game Development Genius. One failure doesn't discredit his 20+ hits.. I can pretty much Guarantee you Corporate was to blame for this games release, not Tanaka.

Agreed. Tanaka is an excellent developer. He was likely just forced to rush due to Cataclysm.

I've been thinking about this...
I think they really did mean to release FFXIV that way.
The top complaints about this game from reviewers were UI and tutorials or directions on where to go. I've been playing FFXI lightly for a couple of weeks (for the first time), and it's even worse. Maybe FFXI players are so used to it, they don't realize how it is for a new gamer (or maybe they all have controllers). I'm not surprised by how FFXIV was released now, because even the UI at FFIV's opening was easier than FFXI's.
In FFXI, one NPC told me how to get outside the city, but only because I walked up and talked to him. I found my first quest by accident. Nothing shows where anything is. Even the map is hard to understand. I still haven't figured out if I can warp back to town. It's a long walk.
After some internet research, I figured out how to regain HP from fighting and how to hand in quests. You can't just talk to the NPC, you have to actually trade the item they want from you.
Compared to that, FFXIV's UI was a cakewalk at start. WoW (and other mmos) is fairly self-explanatory, because everything is drag and drop. But here, I guess to make it controller friendly, everything is click. It took me time to figure that out. Seems easy now, but when you have no idea whats going on... that alone will make you not want to play.
I'm not saying that UI is the only problem, but it was probably the biggest one keeping people from even trying this game. If you are confused and frustrated from the start, it doesn't make you want to continue and get emotionally invested in the game.
^^^^^^^^^^^This. A million times. Utterly agree.I've been thinking about this...

Guildleves were always meant to be the "main part" of the game until Yoshida told us no. Those were horrible.
Fatigue was also a horrible aspect to be in the game. It's finally being removed.
The world has no reason to be so big without any new monsters being added.
There weren't many (if any, not sure) side quests until Yoshida took over.
Crafting is and will be a pain in the ass until it is reworked.
Market Wards are a good idea but they will never work properly or as well as an interface shop.
The UI is horrible and bass ackwards.
The battle system is terribly balanced right now and Tanaka didn't show any signs of balancing it. It was even worse with a 15 player cap.
And on top of that there was barely anything more than leves, behests, 12 main story quests, and grinding on release.
And this took him 5 years? Sorry his past games may have been good, but you cannot deny that even if this game was rushed, it was and is crap until a lot of the systems are reworked.
