- Echo buff.
This is something that I really hate, and it pisses me off to the brim of breaking keyboards and throwing headsets. If you can't make a dungeon or trial, then get better items! Don't give people a freakin handicap for being too low lvl! Gaining more than 1k hp per wipe??? That is so far beyond joke, it's a slap in the face to the players and it ruins the sense of skill required to play this game!

Funny. Last I checked, you could take it off. Besides, some people have good gear and have latency issues, so the few ticks of extra hp helps when plumes make your computer lag.

Let me guess, you are going to tell me to buy a computer. Tell me how to make an extra 600 bucks appear out of thin air and I'll do it :]

Just because I take it off doesnt mean that others will, which makes the run pointless once more. If you're having latency issues it's your own problem, not anyone elses. Can't afford a new computer, then get a job. That's where most people get their money from.

It's a know fact that FFXIV servers suffer from massive lag and latency spikes, we could have all the money in the world and the datacentre will still be half way across the world from Europe.

Network latency issues are normally not a players issue it is the ISP and game servers issue. (Some people can't do anything about that) so jump of that high horse.

Besides; Even if i did start with more classes i would go through the same stuff all over again (with different stories from jobs etc), same with crafts just more repetative. It would be pointless in that sense for me to start with new classes if all i want to do is progress with a weapon. You are clearly having problems seeing that this is about the requirements for a weapon, not so much that i have nothing to do in this game. And FYI: This isn't "other games" where people look for (according to you) 640 hours (right) to get gear.

It's a fallacy to indicate that you're having problems with the way they designed acquiring something in this game (obviously because it doesn't suit you) but then rejecting the idea that people are comparing it to other games. You essentially want to change the game into something that it isn't currently (another game).

Regarding the first post about the echo buff though, I agree it does more or less remove the challenge for people, but it really is subjective. When it comes to PUGs, which is the most popular source of group activity, the echo buff is a God-send. It's wrong to think that people are there with the objective of challenge as a priority over victory. You don't pick your groups as a PUG and you could easily wind up with people that are not team players or are severely undergeared than what your group would otherwise need. It's true that some might be there for the learning experience and challenge PUGs present, but it's the lesser of 2 wrongs to prioritize victory over challenge. At least when it comes to something like PUGs. The echo buff for static/LS/FC groups can definitely be looked at negatively if they want the challenge (which is most appropriate for these groups). Supposedly, you can remove it manually though, so there's always that at least.

Do you find the echo even helps?
They might as well just make you automatically win when the timer runs out. In most pugs, that would be a accomplishment anyway... :P If SE added that in the future, I'd probably be fine with it.

I wish the echo buff did what you says it does, I really do. Sure, I also wish people would just play better or have better computers/internet connections. Even giving people a whole bunch more stats doesn't seem to fix pugs for me. I do see people get even more ambitious. Where they might have been shy to do a fight before, now they try thinking they will just wipe the group a bunch of times and that is ok. That might have been fine if that actually had been a way to win eventually. They still hug the floor anyway every pull.

I don't mind people being new at all or having computer issues. I do mind people that refuse to put down the sandwich and turn off candy crush in the background... Some people just don't try.
