No, I tend to use terms based on what they actually mean, not what I personally feel they mean.

The provision of careful support or guidance to someone during a learning process or a period of change:http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/de...h/hand-holding

it's just a circle with you. with this definition this is exactly what a parser is. support or guidance in a learning process (which rotation is better)
it's holding your hand by making you have to do less. you say being given the recipe isn't hand holding but you wouldn't even be able to attempt it without the recipe.
hand holding isn't a bad thing it's a good thing.

Nah, you just don't, or refuse, to get it. The parser does nothing but show you information. It shows you the results of changes YOU make, it tells you nothing more than the results. You just want to twist it around so it suits what you choose to think the term means, regardless of what it actually means.
Hand holding literally means what it implies. Someone is holding your hand because you need constant help with something. It doesn't tell you anything that isn't already there, it just compiles it into an easier to read format. You actually can't always do the same things without a parser as you can with due to the combat log being limited in length. It's not hand holding, get over it.
This is one of the problems I have with some people these days, they want to have their own meanings for words, different from what the words actually mean. There's a reason words have certain meanings.

*editted part here* gonna leave the original part below, since i read part of your message and then jumped the gun, an for that i apologize, as it seems we actually agree, but reason im leaving the message intact is its just more information i feel where in game stuff is lacking where a third party thing like a parser takes in account actual combat numbers, not standing there, not moving, dodging, healing, reviving and having damage down for a minute, etc, and its true, a parser wont help you with mechanics, those you have to learn yourself, only thing a parser does is give you the raw numbers of your dps for the fight as far as i know, friends had me install a parser mod i think when they tried to get me into wow, funny thing is that game needs too many mods, actually have to have mods to track quests an things like that on the mini map... one of if not the longest running mmo, requires multiple mods to have it to be playable, kinda sad thinking about itNah, you just don't, or refuse, to get it. so by your logic, everyone should take time after wiping, read through the battle tab and see where they messed up in their rotation? is that your answer? and the dps dummies for each extreme fights arent a good benchmark either because it doesnt measure when you are dodging mechanics, dying, etc, and before you even say it, no i dont use parsers, i was however searching to see if they were allowed or not since if used solely for your own personal checking (which guess what? the moment its not, and someone uses it to be abusive and call others out for not meeting dps checks, which there are currently with or without parsers because people dont want to take the blame themselves, or just move on an try again after telling people the mechanics if they messed up in a civil manor, there is a handy dandy report function built into the game, didnt know if you knew that or not)
