In the example of looking up information to aid with a fight, I do not consider this handholding as the necessary skill requirement is still exactly the same as it was - you've just become better prepared. In the case of parsers, you could argue that summing values adds an element of skill which parsing removes, but I would argue that the skill required in summing a set of data is considerably less (and is in fact effectively tedium since an average eight year old knows how to perform addition, especially with aid of a calculator) than the skill in analysing it and using it to improve yourself and your group. The ability to improve yourself only improves your preparation - it doesn't reduce the difficulty of the fight at all.
