Yep, it's those kinds of prices on my server that initiated this thread. It's ridiculous.

I don't know you, but I'm at the cusp of getting ALL my crafts to 50 at once and I've MADE money doing so. I will agree with the time consuming part because I'm more meticulous and OCD than most players.
I see that you're an inexperienced crafters so I will say this: There are very fast and indeed easy ways to level your craft but you chose the slow and mind numbingly boring way to progress. If you don't know something, ask in the Disciples of Hand forum and I'm sure other people would help. Don't assume you know everything even though you're inexperienced in the matter. Here's a tip: I got my On the payroll V achievement after I get any of the An eye for details achievements. Now go figure it out yourselves.
I have a CUL at 50. Do you really think I would have been able to stomach that without leves? Even with finishing your crafting logs and leves (which I started at level 30 and ran out of in my 40s... I just kept using the new daily allowances until I hit 50), the whole process is still extremely boring. It takes all of my play time trying to do the daily battle class stuff. Spending so much time in one spot pressing a macro over and over again is not what I'd call fun times at all.I see that you're an inexperienced crafters so I will say this: There are very fast and indeed easy ways to level your craft but you chose the slow and mind numbingly boring way to progress. the most ive ever paid for a prism was 2k, I make more than that just doing what I do and completing the challange log in the process (2k for trying to catch a titanic sawfish? another 3k for running 3 df dungeons? thanks SE!)

As a DoW / DoM you have access upto 50k+ in profit a day from Roulettes and Dailies alone.
As a crafter I don't sell prisms on the Market Board. I mostly use my crafts and gathering for myself or FC/friends at no cost.
I make plenty of gil alone just doing Roulettes when capping tomes. It funds something far more expensive than Glamours, Melds and overmelding.
Perhaps you need to reevaluate your methods for earning gil. There is even the challenge log now.

yesterday I glamoured my head, chest, arms, legs, and feet for 17k (roughly). 3 armorer prisms, 1 goldsmith, 1, weaver. all tier 2 and 1 tier 3. Thats roughly 3.5k per. the tier 5 were only 5.5k at the most (yesterday). A trip to the aesthetician for 2k. Effed it up there so another 2k.
21k total.
As another poster said, barter with friends, farm mats for players. Make friends with a crafter. There are ways to ease the burden. Take a break from whatever you are doing and farm gil (which is easy).

Then don't do it. There are much more effective ways to get gil.I have a CUL at 50. Do you really think I would have been able to stomach that without leves? Just wait for the product to go on sale. Eventually the prices will drop. You can't have new items at discounted prices unless you have friends who make these items.

Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh... that doesnt smack TOO much of childish bs now does it? Seriously, just level a craft, find an FC or stfu.
And no, while I enjoy crafting I am not of a level to profit from this system.
