    Awful Tank luck today.

This is going to be a Rant.

Trying to do Thornmarch and Titan HM to get gear for my other classes, always being a Tank since I find matches more quickly. After about 150 runs or so of doing Thornmarch, the Mogblade finally drops, the other Tank has Curtana and Holy Shield Zenith. I need and ask if I can have it since I'm still using a level 55 Sword and he clearly doesn't need it, he Needs on it anyways and gets it.

I'm going to be honest, this irritated me greatly. Not only have I been constantly giving tips, doing the markings, trying to make things go smoothly, but I'm also doing this so much and never getting anything. The one time I could, a Tank gets greedy and wants it for his Glamour instead of doing the right thing and giving it to someone who actually NEEDS the damn thing.

Then I go into Titan HM, and the DPS is terrible. We get 50% Echo buff before we barely beat Titan with 5 people up. The whole time I've been saying we should just give up and try again since it's been 45 minutes by the time we got the 50%. Wall of Crags drop, I plead with the other Tank that I've been having awful luck and could use it. One of the healers insults me and says I don't deserve it because I've been "moaning" that we should have given up after the DPS kept wiping us over and over by the 30% mark.. The other Tank gets the shield and the healer leaves before I even get a word in.

I fathom why I bother trying to do anything anymore, my FC doesn't need to do either of these anymore, and no one else is available to help. Doing these through the PF is all I can do, and at every turn I'm getting shafted, not even getting one damn weapon for all my time and effort, all the while still getting mocked and otherwise for when I've just had enough of constantly asking "does everyone know what to do? DPS can you please try and dodge Weight of the Land? Healers could you make sure to heal Damage Down? Tank could you make sure to hold the King at the West side of the arena while I take the adds on the East" and so forth.

What the hell am I supposed to do?

Why dont you just grind out tomes and do the quest for your relic and come back with a couple of friends sometime when your all more geared so it will be easier?

I'm doing them often, but I also need weapons for my DRG, SCH, MRD, BRD, and then of course PLD. I do the Duty Roulettes daily, buy something with what I can, but I need some decent weapons for anything since the Relics often take longer. No one is readily available though.

For a long time I too never got lucky on paladin weapon drops, although I had various Ifrit weapons for other roles. As a temporary measure I used the lv70 sword and shield that are purchased with PvP tokens. There are also crafted weapons to consider. Eventually I decided that I just have to do the relic quest for paladin, and I got the curtana and holy shield. Relying on random drops from primals will lead to frustration as you have discovered since it's never guaranteed you will get anything. I would just never expect or hold your breath on random loot since it will lead to disappointment, and pursue other things. If you do get a random loot, consider yourself lucky.

Last time I tried Ifrit it was about 20 times in a row on my last Sub day a month or so ago, never got a weapon once then either lol. I'm eternally screwed, and I remember getting mocked and insulted by other people back then as well. I should literally just break my disc in half and give up, I'm never going to get anything done.

And I still need weapons for other classes, but then I never find a party.

If you want weapons fast and you have some gil, just take a look at what people are selling on the market board. I see paladin's using the darksteel shield sometimes. Additionally, items which have been crafted such as these can eventually be converted into materia when you are done with then which you can then sell to recoup some of the money you originally spent on the item.

Tried, the Mailbreaker was barely better than the 55 Sword the Immortal Flames and other Grand Companies give out, if it was High-Quality. Went for like 100K or something. The shield was equally as expensive. I barely have 50K to my name as of right now.

You're not getting shafted. People play for different reasons. Maybe the other tanks only did those fights for vanity drops. It's not fair to tell them they're not allowed to roll for loot when they're unlucky enough to get grouped with you.

If you were doing those fights only for vanity gear, how would you like it if you kept getting paired up with tanks who told you that you can't roll on stuff you want? You'd get sick of it and not want to play.

Sucks that you had bad luck, but the tanks didn't do anything wrong. That's just how RNG is in MMOs. Sometimes you get what you want the first time, and sometimes you don't. If you're burned out on RNG to the point where you resent other players getting loot, it's time for a break.

So they should immediately always get what they're going after regardless of someone else needing it more than them? Not only would they be lacking humility, that's just plain unfair to people who actually need the gear. If they get put in a party where no one needs it, it's fair game. If another player actually NEEDS that gear, they should have right of way with it. That's the point of a Need and Greed system.

Looking at it from a "everyone has a equal right to gear" is a half-truth. Everyone has the ability to roll on it when it becomes available. The part that's not true is that people who need the gear to beneficially improve their character deserve it more than another person that doesn't. I don't Need on something if I already have it or don't need it, I recognize that another player who could use it needs it more than me, and I realize they have the right of way with it. If we're suddenly going to start declaring that the player who has at least an item level of 80 and is doing a Thornmarch run for Vanity items, compared to the item level 64 PLD that needs a new sword and could greatly use it, doesn't deserve it. Then I question the logic in this.

It's like going into runs for fun as whatever class you want, and if something drops that you can use, even if you don't need it, and you take it from someone that does, you're a dick. Plain and simple. They need the weapon, you do not. You're deliberately making the game harder for someone else out of greed, and I refuse to play with anyone who does that.

In the Titan HM run, it was fair game. I asked politely to that Tank if I could have it because I've been having awful runs today, I asked a favor, and would not have any hard feelings if I didn't get it, because that Tank needed that Shield just as much as me. The Tank in the Thornmarch run? Nope, didn't need it at all, it was obsolete for him by this point in the game, and he deliberately went for it anyways regardless of the fact that I needed it more than him and he was going into these runs for a secondary reason, compared to me doing it to actually make some beneficial changes in my character's gear, which would be a primary reason. Here's a hierarchy on gear on how I see it:

    1. Players who Need the gear to replace lesser equipment have the right of way with it, regardless of how many people there are. If there are 4 different people who "Need" something, they all deserve it equally.

    2. Players of the same class, where one player needs something more than another, have an equal shot at something. But the player who "Needs" the item to replace bad gear, deserves it more than the other player that doesn't need the item to replace something, and instead is going for the item just to use it in a Vanity system.

    3. If gear drops and no players "Need" it, then it is fair game for all players to roll on it.

I shouldn't have to elaborate more than this on why the first Tank should have realized and humbly accepted that another player was getting that weapon to replace something, while he was doing the run simply to have it's image used over something else, then to sit in his storage after that for all time, while the other player would have been actively using it for a decent amount of time. This community is going to suffer as time goes on if people roll on something just because they can and continue to take items away from people who require that gear while they just want to have it for a collector's reason so it can sit in their storage afterwards.
