Well there are currently hints that Shiva is behind the Winter in Coerthas.

Also it is believed that something is calling the Giants to the Northern part of Coerthas.

So far seems all hints are pointing to Shiva.

Nice, thanks for sharing! I take from these pics, terrain was nice and the skybox was beautiful, especially Dalamud, flying ships.

I miss this and materials not being a smoothed washed out surface. Neutral mobs would walk over and stare at you doing whatever you were doing.

It was impressively bad. These are completely unaltered, by the way.

That isn't really anything related to the engine. You changed the setting controlling the internal frame buffer to the lowest. Meanwhile many players were turning it up to so the game was rendering 1920x1080 at 3840x2160 (4K) and complained the game ran poorly, several even tried to throw AA on top of it. Barely anyone playing with it had any idea what it did, 99% of games don't even expose it to be changed.
