This is a PVE game. There is no such thing as "best players" because the only real way to judge players is on their gear and teammates.


I'd argue that PvP is the same way. There's no such thing as a super godlike Bard who can single handedly murder an entire team, the game rules just don't allow that sort of play. The way to be the "best player" in FFXIV is to be sociable and a good explainer of mechanics to those not as versed as you.


Fun, entertaining people are the ones who get my commends, and i'll take 7 of those players over the most "elite" players any day. Atma progression doesn't judge your skill, only your luck relative to others and the sheer amount of hours you're willing to dedicate to fate grinding. That's literally all its worth.



I cant say this enough. If you people want to be judged on player skill, go play a game like Tekken, Blazblue, Street Fighter or maybe League of Legends (although LoL's ranking system is a different monster entirely...)

So I've farmed atma pieces since release, don't even want to state how many hours and I have 3? But there are players that had all 12 on day one and some on day two? So the best players in the game is decided by RNG? Hmmmmm.....

Hmm, I was unaware that having an Atma weapon made you the best player. -shrugs-
