    I am a Blm and I have a problem.

I currently raid with a group and we are close to downing turn 7, however i have been told a few times that my Dps can be better with the gear that I do have. I do agree.

I however do have a problem with my hands. I do take alot of meds for the various mental problems i have n other health issues, some of them cause my hands to well tremble badly if i spread out my fingers to much (which is now permanent for me) because of this I depend on clicking to dps. i do keep my ui minimal and all of my abilities close. I also keep my enemy list close to click on the enemy i want as a spell is casting.

My problem is i am locked to the wasd keys and if i try to press tab to select enemies my right hand will tremble (i use the mouse with my left hand) i can use Q and E for strafing but its a bit of a gamble if i am pressing them to long.

I did opt more for a crit det build over ss as it does give me more time in my case to click on what i need. but I do notice when a few mobs appear with the same names , its where i suffer the most. there is nothing for me to click on the enemy tab to get the right one i should be focusing on like when the dark matter bulb appears in the middle. with the boss in the way this also makes it utterly difficult for me to target and well i panic trying to decide to either click the bulb or fiddle on the list for the right one, usually i wait till it starts getting hit to select the right one to attack but right there i lost dps waiting even if its a second or 2.

Because not spawns actually show up when they spawn on the list like the levi bubbles for example this does make using the enemy tab as something i really cannot depend and when its looking for the right thing to attack and clicking on it i am just wasting time.

I have been thinking hard about using an xbox 360 controller or if there is anything better id like to know. I know i can hold controllers without my hands trembling. I do not know anyone who has extensive experience with the keyboard n mouse and the controller to know if the controller for a black mage can either deter them further or if it helps out more when it comes to targeting.

If anyone can tell me a good spell layout for blm would help out for the controller or if i should get used to just a and d for strafing , get used to more mouse moving and just keybind q or e for target cycling or 2 abilities.

Also after the fire 1 phase and i use my bliz3 n thunder 2 and my mana is not full yet, best to wait a bit for the tic, cast bliz 1 or scathe?

One thing I can recommend right off the bat is not resting your fingers on WASD and moving your hand around keeping your fingers as close as you need. You can move by pressing both M1 and M2 down on your mouse if you really need to.

If you do use controller, BLM actually has an easy time on controller so you have nothing to fear

And finally, I'd say use Blizz 1 as a filler ability if needed. That way you reset UI3's counter and not use too much MP in the process (better chance to be at 100% MP for Fire phase)

I know plenty of people who play on controller just fine, including two of the best Scholars I know. I'm sure BLM would be easy enough considering Scholar is a more complex class.

Have you considered an MMO mouse? The buttons are all very close and the majority of them are where your thumb would naturally rest on a normal mouse, so I think it could fit your situation. You could hotkey many abilities to them, as well as enemy targeting so you don't have to use tab.

I have been playing FF11 on PC before I started playing this game (I never played any other MMORPG besides these two games)
I completely altered the HUD to the like of FF11 style, using legacy settings, key bindings similar to that of FF11. I use [ and ] to switch between targets, ASDW to move, all spells/skills fit into the two default bars with a few additional keys binded with Backspace, \, and `.
I never ever used the mouse when playing FF11, however, that doesn't change much when playing this game with the ONLY EXCEPTIONS I have to use my mouse when I cast Freeze, Limit Break, and navigating on my Chocobo.

My HUD is something like this:

Those are old screenshots. I don't have any recent screenshots on my laptop as I'm at work right now. But you probably get the idea.
I simply use shift + up/down to switch hotbars when I need to change jobs fast. My settings are pretty much 99% mouse-free.

Ill give that a shot, one of my guild mates did tell me of one option i totally overlooked. I switched it off and well atleast i do not lose my target if i accidently click on the ground and that alone boosted me closer to where i need to be. I will be trying this out and give a shot at my xbox 360 controller and see if i can adapt to something new.

I suggest play using a controller instead. Or get a 12 button mouse or something for you to bind the skills there instead. less finger movement for you.

    Goodluck!

I'd look into a gaming mouse. My mouse has 12 inputs that I can set to whatever I want. As a blm you could probably get away with a 6 button gaming mouse and activate most abilities with the thumb on your mouse hand. Also, learning to strafe using the mouse in conjunction with wasd rather than using q and e would allow you to re map those key bindings to either further abilities or even to target cycling, so you don't have to reach to the tab button.

You would be surprised if i told ya i did try gaming mice. i am left handed so many of them are in ill positions for me to even make work of them. i have had a razor naga left hand mouse but in 4 months it died on me, now i got a microsoft sidewinder x3 which does give me buttons i could use but alas because i click to activate my abilities when i try clicking those 2 extra buttons (tried them to replace tab targeting.) i end up moving my curser away from abilities i want to use or click on an ability i did not so i do refrain myself from using them.

so far the option i took off is helping me a bit but i do intend to get used to a controller instead
