You cannot summon more retainers in this area?

Hi there, I've recently started playing FFXIV more after a large hiatus but I've hit snag, I'm full, as are my retainers.

So I wrote up price lists of everything i had and went to go to where my retainers are located (I checked at the bell for their location). They weren't there, so I try to summon them... Ok I can't.

I've checked the wards in all 3 cities, checked all of them in ul'dah where they should be and nothing.

Does anyone have any advice for what I can do to get my retainers back out and about?

I see that you said you checked the bell... but you must have missed something. You are able to summon your retainers from the bell at any time, no matter where your retainer is, and regardless whether or not they are currently bazaar'ing.

The message you got "you cannot summon more retainers in this area," means just that.. the wards are full! This won't stop you from calling your retainer at a bell thought, ofc.

Ahh thank you very much, I was unaware that the wards had a cap, Would be nice is the error message was a little more informative.

Yep, welcome to Lindblum. Thanks to crappy design, the Uldah wards are full, meaning you have to set up shop in LL or Grid and hope someone wanders by. Good luck with that.

Wait. The message means that that particular ward is full. Not that all wards in that city are full. So if you're in the Battlecraft Ward, and you get that message, you can still try summoning your retainer into the Ironmongers Ward, the Tradecraft Ward, the Chirurgeons Ward, etc.

I suppose it's possible that every ward in Uldah is full on the Lindblum server. If that's the case, congratulations on having a super busy server. Otherwise, I'd suggest trying to summon your retainer into another ward in Uldah.

No, you sure can't.

There is no advice because it's not fixable on your end. This is the opposite problem of the wards always crashing and dropping people's retainers out. Now they never drop anything out and they all filled up completely.

Yeah, like I said in another post somewhere, I haven't logged in, in a few weeks. I certainly believe the other guys on here saying that each individual ward is full, though. Think about it. The wards in one city can only support 3,800 retainers, or 1,900 accounts. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see them filled to the brim.

My understanding is that this is the case on all the more occupied servers, including my own Figaro.

Every ward has reached 100% capacity in retainers.

What we do know however, is something that's been more explicity stated only in the other language forums - 1.18 includes measures to increase the capacity for retainers in the market wards. This is in addition to the measures to try and drag people kicking and screaming out of Ul'dah and to the other cities.

Not like it matters, though. The Uldah wards will just start crashing again when they increase the limit. Problem. . . stalled?
