Old 1.0 Weathered Equipment - Vanity Cross-Class

I've seen several people on Balmung with vanity of dyed Iron armor and Scale armor sets while on SMN/WHM/BLM/SCH. After looking into and asking around, my legacy friends told me that the items used for vanity are no longer available in game and that they were from 1.0. Searching the items online brought them all up as untradable.

My question: Can we get new recipe items or some other way for these vanity options to be reinserted into the game for us 2.0ers? I want Kecks for my whm. QQ

Sadly it won't happen - dated gear is old version 1.0 gear that existed prior to a specific patch in 1.0 added new equipment models, and the old stuff was retroactively renamed 'dated' equipment. I still have my old dated 1.0 equipment, and indeed you can use it irrespective of class (this is actually reflective of the fact in 1.0 originally there were no equipment restrictions - you could give heavy armour to mages for instance, although you were penalized stat wise severely).

But the ability to gain them is removed from the game - it was one of the first changes SE mentioned was going to happen with ARR's development, as mentioned here:

The following items will become unobtainable:

Dated items
Weathered gear
* Weathered weapons and tools will remain obtainable.

Items to Become Untradable
The following items will become untradable:

Dated items
Weathered gear

So yeah, only those who transferred a character from 1.0 will have dated/weathered equipment - it's not attainable, nor will it be available again either, as it's basically obsolete. It's why I haven't converted any of my dated gear to materia - I like to wear it for vanity (and sentimental reasons as well).

Sorry to OP, but I really hope, that they won't add such gear to the game again. It is really the last (obviously) thing, that is unique to 1.0 players since they added the Gobbue for Beastmen quests.

That's why i converted/removed all my dated gear before 2.0. I though it would become "useless".... Now i could use some dated gear to look like the Miqo'te dancers from Uldah T-T

I'm surprised SE didn't make a last minute decision and make dated gear unprojectable.

I regret not double checking my blackened scale mail and learning it is not one of the dated items. RIP cross class bone scale vanity.
