    Just a quick zodiak question

Sorry if this has been asked, I went back a couple pages but didn't see anything specifically and google hasn't been much help. But I wanted to be sure about this since I have just spent 15 hrs grinding in the same zone with no teleports or zoning or anything and have yet to receive an atma drop.

What exactly are the requirements to get the atma to drop? I have the zenith weapon equipped and I have completed the "up in arms" quest or whatever its called and the next quest above the new npc is locked and he just tells me to get the atma. I am doing all fates, getting gold on each, yada yada yada.

Am I just a victim of bad game design or am I missing something? I don't want to rage to hard before I am sure its not user error.

Also they are not clear on this but can I get atma for any job as long as I am on one with a zenith? Cause in so many fates blm has a hard time getting a single spell out before the mobs die.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You can get Atma as long as you completed the initial Zodiac quest. You need a Zenith weapon equipped (doesn't matter which one) and need to be in one of the twelve areas that the completed quest log states. (the top Central Thanalan should be Central Should and Central La Noscea should be Middle La Noscea)

Otherwise it's all up to the dice gods to determine whether you get a drop or not. I've been in areas for hours and not gotten anything to logging in before work in the morning and doing one FATE and getting a drop. Random is random.

Ok, thanks, guess Im just a victim of rng ><

After 15 hrs with no drop I wont give it much longer til I just give up for the time being. At least in xi when you were working on relics and mythics you felt like you were making progress each time you got a piece of currency, this feels just like a waste of time.

But that may be my deep hatred for anything involving fates talking. Regardless this is really lazy game design.

I agree, it is lazy game design!

I spent ONLY 2 hours fate grinding so far, but it is fairly apparent what the whole thing is supposed to do.
I am a fan of 1.0 Relics, and after Yoshi said, that he heard the comments about the relic quest being to easy and fast so far, I thought we'd get something cool again.
    NOT EVEN CLOSE

In 1.0 All the content, but at its highest and most difficult form, had to be completed to get a relic.
    Time consuming parts were:
Farming a 'FATE'-like quest (Hamlet) in which you could play 4 different roles, while defending an outpost. With a complex scroe system and many different good gear loots + the relic coins(usually 100%).
    Buy your base weapon.
Farming to spiritbond your weapon, WHICH IS A FIXED GOAL of 1000+ kills or so, you could work towards.
Farming a large amount of beastcoins, again something time consuming with a FIXED NUMBER.
    +Reused Dungons
+Specific Hard leaves you had to spend time learning to perfect.
    +Specific Hard Ex Primal Fights

All of these things have been difficult, some were more fun to repeat, some only slow progress, some were unique to each jobs relic.

This new stage: is the worst of all the XX ideas the team has had so far.
There is nothing unique or new about the FATEs, there is nothing exciting about repeating it.
There is no 'safety net', no garantee to get anything after a certain amount of time or amount of runs or a way to reward extra effort.
There is hardly any 'Teamplay' involved.
What we get instead is 'go back to start'-card, like we hadn't grinded our asses off in fates already. There is no assurance of progression and nothing interesting or otherwise rewarding about it.
    I can see the reasons:
Anyone can do it, next to know brain required: check.
Use of existing content for less work: check.
    Takes long: check.

OK, I am NOT asking for 1.0 relics, yes i like for casual players to get their Relics, too. BUT
What is so hard about creating new content that is time consuming yet, not easily exausted, that has multiple rewarding sides and multiple ways to play out.
    Like hamlet. hint hint

I am entirely fine with the books and myth farm, the slow improving of the weapon, the use of the new dungeons, which also give soldiery, loot drops, gil, at least i can change jobs at times, etc.
It is time consuming, yes, a bit bland at times maybe, yes. But there is always something to take away from each run and always a step forward.

I don't think this is something you should specifically focus on, especially if you're capable of doing other content. In the same amount of time spent I'm sure you could have gotten a weapon and mirror from Leviathan Ex and had a "true" i100 weapon. (the Atma doesn't even receive a bump in stats, just a new model)

I do this particular form of content in short spurts after working on other things for the day. If I have an hour left or so before I need to log out for the night I'll go pop in a zone for a bit and try my hand at it. Sometimes I get lucky, other times I don't.
