Used to White Mage, might want to try scholar, but I'm nervous

Okay - silly question so feel free to yell at me. I've got a 50 Sum which I mostly play, since this levels Scholar as well, they are both 50. I have yet to try SCH in a dungeon (did the quest lines for the job skills). But I'm confused as to how this will work in lower level dungeons (no way I'm trying a hard one until I'm ready). For example, when I'm a level 50 WHM and use low level roulette and pop a level 20 dungeon all of my higher skills are blacked out. So I can't use Cure 2 or Regen, only Cure 1. Since all of the SCH healing skills are job related, thus level 30 or higher - how do you heal if you can't use those skills? I'm sure this is something stupidly easy, but I didn't want to try without knowing what I'm doing. Is it pet related? Does pet just do the healing or do I actually control that like WHM? I'm so stupid, sorry in advance and thanks for any feedback. Any links to something like "healers for idiots" or something?

To be fair, Eos and Selene(Heal pets) can solo-heal up to atleast Halitali, and even after that you only need to back them up occasionally.

Eos in particular has a pet skill which grants a small regen effect for a set time(my apologises for lack of actual numbers, I'm to sleepy to check)
Each pet has access to "Embrace" which is a low potency heal spell which can be cast once every 3 or so seconds~ this happens automatically when a party member hits about 75-80% health.
You can macro "Embrace" with "Physik" to whack out some big heals when you don't have access to lustrate~

Selene has the ability to silence enemies, increase the skill speed and spell speed of party members (via skills which you can 'control' using the Obey command, or allow them to blow each skill as they please by just summoning them). they can be placed on the opposite side of arenas to give full area healing without having to move far (useful in places like Dzemael Darkhold's second and 3rd bosses).

Eos' abilities can increase the defense of your party members and supplement the incoming power of heals as the highest potency heal you will have is "Physik"~ discounting Lustrate as it requires stacks of Aetherflow to use and does a flat 25% health restore.

Really, Eos can solo heal through everything (so can Selene, although I find I need to dot heal myself here and there). In fact, take for example Amdapor Keep's Demon Wall. Now that there are no bees, I can straight DPS through it without bothering to heal (of course, assuming the DPS knows how to dodge). Hell, you can get away with lustrating from Cleric Stance and continue to DPS - but I prefer my Adloquium crits. :P

One HUGE thing I'll start out saying is that SCH and WHM's play style is totally different. WHM heals damage yes, but SCH mitigates rather then heals. Because of this SCH isn't as dependant on the Mind stat as WHM is. Any healing the SCH does is mostly by the fairy.

Secondly it's important to know the mechanics of a fight. SCH are mostly effective before damage strikes so using Aldo or Succor before boss weapon skills is key.

I could offer Insight but I'm on mobile and am stuck with the character limits

Physick is literally the exact same spell as Cure so nothing changes much as WHM doesn't get Cure II until 30 when SCH gets Adloquium. Really the most major difference is that SCH will not be able to heal status until level 40 I believe.

Yo DO get the fairies in level sync dungeons if you had any doubts. They are summoned with Summon 1 and 2 which are native to Arcanist and only change what is summoned depending on if/which job you have equipped.

Eos can solo heal everything up to lv38 (cutters cry), i haven't tried higher yet. AK does not sync gear, so again Eos can solo heal it if you are i70+. Job does not mean lv30+ spells - Eos is lv10 and aoe heal is lv1.
You will miss Cure III, Regen and Repose.
Eos needs to be within a close range to start auto healing, so either place it or stand near the tanker.
Scholar has much more time to dps than WHM, but no burst damage.

SCH is honestly pretty easy. Focus on your main tank the most, and alternate between Physick and Adloquium to heal. During instances when your can't seem to heal enough, switch Eos to obey and control when Whispering Dawn and Fey Covenant happens. Two SCH's launching Whispering Dawn at the same time results in a near immortal party. At least until it ends. Fey Covenant lets your Succor spell be worth a damn. Fey Light (that's the mdef one right?), I have not found a use for. But I launch it anyways during times of lots of damage just in case it actually helps.

No need to be nervous, I haven't finished leveling my WHM yet but I find it much more difficult that SCH. At lower levels a well placed pet will do most of your work for you so if you put some effort into placing your pet and getting comfortable with moving it around and you'll be just fine.

Seriously, Eos is bordering on OP until the higher levels.

Remember to dot up when possible, no need stand around if you can add a little damage, depending on mp of course
