PS4 Beta Phase 2 Questions

Hello!

I am currently a PS3 player who is interested in joining the PS4 beta that is coming up this weekend. I have read that you can transfer in toons from the PS3 to use on Beta weekend. Two questions:

1) Will I lose my progress over the weekend when the Beta ends and I go back to PS3?
2) If I enroll, will I be locked out of returning to my PS3 entirely and unable to play until the PS4 release?

The progress you make with your char in the beta should remain, regardless of what platform you play it on afterwards. Also, I believe the official PS3->PS4 transfer service does not start until the early access period starts on 4/11. So you can safely play your PS3 char in the beta with all progress being saved, and won't have to worry about being locked out once it ends.

I know there was some discussion of having our gearsets and macros automatically transfer from the PS3 to the PS4.
Will that be in place for the beta test or will we need to recreate everything on the PS4?

As I understand it, moving the local files will be part of the 4/11 early access period migration. I imagine it will be a clean slate when it comes to gear sets, macros, and hot bars the first time logging in to the PS4.

Has there been an explanation as to how we're to download the PS4 version of the game from the PS Store without having to pay for it again? Are we going to get a code or something?

From this Friday the beta Stage 2 client will be avialable to download from PSN store which will - most likely, unless some major "overhaul" would be needed - become live one as well with some minor patches to be downloaded prior the start of early access at 11 April. Even if SE would decide to release the new client for live (which I doubt) it's quite likely that it will be "freely" available on PSN without need for codes as well as it's practically useless to anyone without active / paid for service account anyway. Although Sony might force SE to "protect" the download with PSN voucher code at which case I'd assume it would be retrievable via Mogstation during the Migration / upgrade process.

Actually downloaded the stage 2 client already. It was available last night in NA. It didn't even occur to me that could just use that client when it goes live. Makes sense.

Wouldn't it just be a patch for the first beta since you've already downloaded a huge amount of the core game already.

Nope it's a new client
