    Economic Impact of Retainer Ventures?

What does everyone think about a possible impact on the economy with the addition of ventures?

I'm honestly expecting shards/crystals and things like Alumen/Cotton/Flax to drop pretty significantly. This is kind of upsetting, since the majority of my money comes from those things. Will people just be farming for themselves and their crafting habits, or will the market eventually get bogged down with everyone's overflow?

I think it will depend on which ventures end up more profitable. I've been doing the 18 hour ventures which brings me some allagan pieces and some crystals or a few basic mats. That's cool with me as it is a little extra of the things I use without going out and getting them myself. I was talking to someone who does the single hour ventures and his retainers have been bringing him furniture (wtf?) I don't think they consistently bring back enough of any single item to really tank the market on that item (I got some HQ cinnamon yesterday, but it was only three pieces) so in my opinion it will have much less impact than botters already have.

That's the thing about... well, any economy really. Things change, and one must adapt or die. Try looking into any new opportunities this may have brought about, such as using the system yourself to get certain items in greater quantities, trying to obtain the unique items from exploration ventures, or selling items used for GC turn-ins people may be using to get seals for ventures.

Maybe when people get their retainers to lv 50 and they start bringing back more valuable items. So far, though, the more unique items that retainers bring back are unsellable (mog weapons), NQ versions of gear that sell for scraps compared to HQ versions, and housing items (most FCs that have a house already have members that can craft that stuff). Also, as someone already mentioned, it's uncommon for retainers to bring back good stuff.

Even for ventures where you can choose a specific shard or mat, it's less efficient than gathering them yourself (legitimate players) or with bots (gil sellers). Each venture only nets around 40 shards or mats. That's ten gathering nodes at the very most. It may supplement what people do otherwise to gather, but I don't think it will replace it (unless the yield increases significantly at higher levels).

The amounts the ventures produce are so negligible comparing to effort needed to get venture coins that I doubt this will have any vissible or significant impact on mats market.

I had a retainer bring back a Riviera Lamp, so it's safe to say Ventures are just a big, anything goes gambling game. I've had both my Botanist and Gladiator come back from their 'quick expeditions' with fish. Maybe it's just a Miqo'te thing.

I'm sure as they, and their gear, level up they have the chance for better stuff, but odds are, what class they are doesn't seem to matter much aside from the items you can explicitely ask them to go fetch for you (a normal 1-hour venture).

I sort of figured prices would drop and shards for instance have done so.
On the bright side my retainer has been bringing me lots of furniture which is great as we are saving up for housing, lol
