Are Treasure Hunt rates too low?

People can call me whatever they want, but it annoys me that I have done Treasure hunts every day since their release and have never once obtained one of the rare/treasure hunt only materials or minions. A fourth of the time I do not even get any items at all (other then the aetherial armor piece) and just receive gil. Try as I might to get these materials to craft gear or furnishings for my FC, they never come. Add to that my not wanting to pay 15k - 250k gil a piece for materials I should be able to obtain on my own, and I question if the loot rates for these items really has been set far too low or if the entire loot system for these coffers is flawed.
In previous MMOs, when it came to loot systems, many used a multiple category system for each boss/treasure chest. In these cases certain items were set in each category with the separate rates for the drops adding up to 50-100%. Example: in category one you have the the rare treasure hunt minion with a rate of 20% and the rare material with 30%, meaning there is still a 50% chance nothing from this category will drop. Then in category two you have 2 regular materials, both set to 40%.
This system would allow players that are actively doing these treasure hunts for the materials to not feel as though they have wasted their time obtaining the maps in the first place.
Yes I realize many people have had great success with treasure hunts, but for those that have gone the entire time without any success at all, it is highly frustrating.

No they aren't. Though Timeworn Maps should've been the avenue they used for Atma grind/rng, not FATE's.

They are called "Treasure hunt" for a reason.

You can always buy the minion you want from the MB, anyway.

(Not to mention you always net a good number of gil/tomes from them)

I've gotten a bunch of rare mats doing maps. I have to have found 8 or 9 boxes of Exquisite Buttons (most I've sold). Seen 5 or 6 Bluebird (one of which likes to perch on my shoulder a lot). Grabbed a Lotus Leaf, Ahriman Tears, Morbol Saliva, Dress Material, Sailor Material (or whatever its called) and Cutting Oil from their maps too.

Its random. What sucks is maps like me more than Coil does...

Thank you for helping prove my point that the Treasure Hunt loot system has a balancing flaw.

*sigh* swing and a miss there, in my original post's example I don't even make the rare stuff 100%. Read carefully before you troll.

I'm more inclined to believe you haven't been running maps everyday and are entirely overstating your position. I've run 2 map parties in my FC every week since 2.1 release in order to raise funds for our house. Each party consisted of 8 members with 2-4 maps a piece. So I can say without a doubt that I've done hundreds of maps. Assuming 2 maps per person with an 8 person party twice a week that's 32 maps minimum a week. It's been over 3 months but I'll just say it's been 12 weeks since 2.1 bringing me to a minimum of 384 maps since 2.1. I know for a fact it was considerably more than that by the order of around 150-200 more, but I figure it's a decent enough baseline for me to say that if you've been running maps every single day and haven't gotten a single decent drop then I think you're lying or the most unlucky player in the game. You're experiences don't match what I've whitenessed one bit. Sure, pets are rare as hell, but the rest of the items aren't that bad what-so-ever. They are more uncommon than rare. I the entirety of 2.1 the only really rare drop was the pets and on peisteskin maps I'd wager to bet the drop rate is around 1%.

Good point you bring up and I should elaborate on what I mean by my running them everyday. These have been solo maps that I have obtained myself. I do not spend money on maps on market and have been targeting solo maps, not piesteskin so not comparing to what people are obtaining as a group, for the materials to craft gear and furnishing. Even running opening (only) 1-2 maps per day based on when I fish them up, statistically I should have obtained at least 1 item other then steel ingots or raptor leather.

Don't items only drop from certain maps? You aren't going to get Blue Fox Hide from a Leather map, only from a Goatskin map (and maybe Toadskin?). The Tonberry minion comes from Boarskin. Other rare crafting mats come from the Peisteskin maps, which are really fun to do in FC parties.

Are you sure your inventory has room for the materials? I don't think you get anything if your inventory is full.

If the drop rate wasn't low, then everyone that did maps would have a surplus of the item, causing it and the items made from it to plummet in price on the market board. And when items on the market aren't costing you jack to buy, and that's VERY bad for the economy.
