    Pets and status effects (SMN)

Huge pet Peeve of mine. Healers at best cant easily heal/see or target my pet. At worse are far too lazy to do it anyways. They view them as an expendable party members. The main healer i run with uses a controller setup. Pets don't show in her group window and it isn't easy for her to target it, if i could convince her to do something about it.

Places like Quarn and AV used to be nightmarish for me. (doom and golddust/Burrs) These was largely addressed in pets. Other effects like paralyze/silence are annoying but don't last long enough for me to stress over.

So whats my new gripe? Lost city. Those poison effects some mobs cast rip my pet apart in just a few ticks. (500-750 /tick) Substain isnt enough. Substain + spam heal for 30 seconds straight will keep pet up, maybe. But that completely takes me out of the fight.

Anyone got any useful tips to help this? I dont want to have to stock every type of status cure potion and have a medicine cabinet hotbar for just my pet. Its silly. Not to mention potion cooldown timers. Healers have enough to do rather than try to target pets by manually clicking on them, after i manage to type out "gardua needs esuna"

The best and most obvious solution i can come up with, And I dont really see how it would unbalance anything is just add esuna to substain. Since this would only effect pets. Or let me cross class leaches, that would give SMN more utility.

Whats the best way to suggest that changes to the devs?

You know I never noticed that healer AoE affected pets. I knew Succor did, but they also heal with medica I/II. Thanks, T2 enrage lol

I ran as SMN a few times on Lost City and did not have any issues? Are you using Ifrit or Garuda? If Garuda, maybe try placing the pet away from from enemies (remember to "heel" when moving on). If Ifrit, switch to Garuda lol

Rouse is on a pretty short CD and prevents status effects (not sure if this clears current effects, though)

That being said, when I roll as healer I do not keep track of others pets. Using a controller prevents me from even selecting the pet unless I sheath weapon and scroll through all targets (which can be simple or complicated depending). Keep up sustain, you also have Physick. Worst case Swiftcast/Summon

Swiftcast + Summon X exists for a reason...

Honestly, Pets are almost immune to most AoEs as it is; making it easier to heal pets will probably involve removing that (say good-bye to pets soaking Fireballs, and AV becomes terribad for ACN again...). Status effects that pose a real threat to pets are pretty uncommon (I can't even think of any off the top of my head, assuming you're using Garuda and at least managing her somewhat). The poison in AR...I've run the dungeon a few times and I'm not sure what you're talking about; is it the ground AoE you're talking about (which then a Place would solve the problem), or something that happens in melee range (which is completely preventable and completely your fault for letting Garuda be there)?

Erm, healers using a controller should just go into their menu and under "When weapon drawn" select "Target Pets/Summons/Chocobos".

You can SS pets at the beginning of the run, makes them even more durable than they already are. Also, you don't want your fellow Scholar's fairy to die and have them waste a SC bringing it back. As for this option potentially interfering with normal targeting, I certainly hope you aren't using left/right to select heal targets >.< That's what up/down is for.

Unfortunately, healers can't immediately see what status effect your pet is under. But after running Amdapor City a few times, maybe they'll start double checking the pet. The dungeon isn't terribly hard to heal so taking some time to examine pets shouldn't cause any problems.

Reason I've lost interest in playing SMN is because the egi's are affected by status effects when they should be immune to them and just makes it a hassle to keep the bloody thing alive in certain fights.

I've recently noticed this more too. Idk, but for some reason after 2.2 my pets have been getting eaten alive by status effects more so that they were pre 2.2. Moving Garuda-Egi never was an issue for me in CT, but after the patch, if I don'r carefully place and direct her on which skely to attack, she will fly off to her death. I'm surprised that DoTs aren't mitigated like regular damage is.

CT has always been a pain. Garuda loves her some purple goo....

As for lost city I've been trying to keep her back but sometimes she wants to be poisoned. (flies in close, tank turns mob, pulls back too much ect)

There are alot of other places it happens too. I figure pet management is our job So give us the tools to do it. Let us be able to ensua pets.

Also Rouse does not make her immune to poison. Nor does it cure effects already on the egi.

I used Rouse yesterday after my Garuda-egi got hit by a Bad Breath from the FATE Malboro NM in Eastern Shroud. It didn't appear to remove any of the debuffs.

Front conal from the Wamouras (cast time, large area) and Gadflys (instant cast).

I don't know why the latter would be hitting Garuda though, and this isn't really a persisting problem in endgame trials/raids. Hell, summons already ignore the effect of most floor AoEs or instant-kill mechanics now.
