I wish they would be a little more clear on as to why it takes so long to implement everything... it kind've looks bad when you can only put out simple fixes and updates at an anemic rate when upcoming games are getting massive changes added while still in their betas ><

No kidding. I get a bit tired of the lack of communication. Yes, Square has been more communicative of late, but there is a distinct difference between just showing us bits and bobs of what they're working on, and actually ENGAGING the community with activities to help pass the time (and retaining a playerbase while you're at it!).

Sure SE has been giving us more info, but for the most part it is politicians info. They manage to say alot while communicating very little hard information. I don't really blame them though, they have a reputation that needs protecting, and they don't want to promise things that turn out to be false, because that can really backfire later, believe me (I work in sales, number one rule: don't promise what you can't deliver).

SE will never give us 100 percent of the information they have available, because it's all subject to change and the more detail they provide the more chance of it coming back to hurt them later.

Here's the reality. Square Enix is currently the majority MMO operator in Japan. WHAT do they have to lose by sharing their design philosophy, and their approaches to making decisions on FFXIV?

Seriously, the Japanese are people who are arse-backwards sometimes, and it's driving the rest of the world crazy. (And it's not a good kind of crazy)

Information is not what we need.

    We need more results.

SE has tried to placate us over the past few months with ambiguous info and random lore, and with all good reason. They know the truth though - results are the only thing that will satisfy us. I'm sure they are doing the best they can, as quick as they can, but we should also acknowledge that this SE dev team isn't a group of miracle-workers. They are just an average Dev team, not a great one, not a bad one. Just average.

True but I mean would it kill them to give us some overall design-philosophy behind things. Just to let us know where they are coming from. Even if the specifics are off, the general design concept will be relatively unaltered.

It doesn't help Square-Enix that 1.18 was delayed by quite a bit of time, when it was due well in the first week of July or sooner. I think there is a limit to the majority playerbase's patience right now: Square Enix has two weeks at best to start showing they are producing results, or the damage becomes irreversible.

Let's face it: We are up to our necks in the summer season, and there are other games dragging people away from XIV. Games that are more enjoyable, attractive, and more fuller in terms of content and design.

Square Enix is racing the clock, and they don't seem to be taking it seriously.

I don't mind the lack of information lately on content I just don't want to feel like a fish on a line waiting for them to start reeling in. Catch me or send me back out to be caught again another day....cuz it kinda hurts sitting there with a hook in my mouth... metaphorically speaking.
Just give me one sentence.... "The patch is not this month." and I will not have a single complaint. I could just go now but I feel really happy and excited about this patch and I am beginning to enjoy some of the more positive posts and feedback here on the forums.... all I want to know is if I should be excited at all yet. Any small word that it will come out this month and I will be in XIV preparing for the update, trying to get a ls, lvling, all that stuff. I keep deleting my character because I can't find a server I like... (Advice welcome on that btw).

Any word that it is delayed another month, and I go waste money on a single player game to play and anticipate experiencing what this new team is capable of.
This is them proving themselves with this patch and I understand how careful they must be with releasing information. I am not disappointed with them at all, and I am pretty happy about all the changes coming. I can't remember reading anything I didn't like. I don't want the patch to release until it's ready, and I want them to do the best they can and not need to post anything else about what they are working on.
    I would appreciate something like:
"We ask for your continued patience. We are working hard to get the patch out this month but it might be delayed to next month due to the massive amounts of changes that are to take place. Please continue to leave feedback and support so we can fix as much as possible before releasing it."

I want to believe in SE and this game. I think I will actually be able to enjoy it after this patch. I will wait patiently either way, but I would still like to know. Waiting is pretty hard when you are so happy about something, lol.

personally, i would love to see either yoshi or one of their pr people take the 5 minutes to do a once a week statement. it would just be an overview of what they have been working on. maybe a chart of the percentage done.

just a few ideas of what i'd like to see.

"this week we had a few meetings involving wayt to implement chocobo's and airships and although i can't discuss more until we get approval i think you will like it.

the quest hubs we have began working on and close to halfway through initial coding. we are still a way off, but we are working on it.

our team working on the maps have all the concepts done and have began redesigning them.

our dungeons are now completed and doing final testing to make sure everything is completed and ready for the patch.

as of right now the patch seems to be still on pace to come out in late july, but if anything changes i will update you next week."

i just want to see more of this type of letter in which they just give a basic overview of the individual things they are working on and not vague general ideas. we know they have multiple crews working on individual things, but if we seen what each crew was working on then i feel less people would have the opinion they are doing nothing.
