I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
To be honest, I follow a lot of MMOs and SE doesn't seem that great by comparison. Just recently, ArenaNet released a whole article about their intentions and philosophy behind their in-game dungeons, with a lot of specifics.
SE is in the exact same position with FFXIV but all we get are a few tidbits of information with scarcely any design-philosophy to back up their choices. So I honestly don't believe they are more transparent. Other MMO developers seem more open to me.
But compared to how they were in FF11, they are getting better, that's for sure.
En Masse Entertainment has been FAR more open and forthcoming with me, directly I should add, regarding TERA Online, than Square Enix has been about FFXIV.
No kidding. I get a bit tired of the lack of communication. Yes, Square has been more communicative of late, but there is a distinct difference between just showing us bits and bobs of what they're working on, and actually ENGAGING the community with activities to help pass the time (and retaining a playerbase while you're at it!).I wish they would be a little more clear on as to why it takes so long to implement everything... it kind've looks bad when you can only put out simple fixes and updates at an anemic rate when upcoming games are getting massive changes added while still in their betas ><
