Question about lv 50 Gathering Retainer

I had NO choice but to start using both of those jobs, I wanted to anyway for the Challenge Log quests as well. So if I get to 50, it sounds like the MAX LEVEL should be 45 at that rate?

Their level is 5 below your level UNLESS you've hit 50, at which point they can also hit 50.
