Question about lv 50 Gathering Retainer

As it stands now the rewards are a bit lackluster, I"ve currently completed 2 Botanist and 1 DOW high tier exploration and have recieved the following
8 allagan silver pieces
3 crawler cocoon HQ
3 Dzmeal tomatoes HQ
5 hippogryph skins HQ

Which is a bit dissapointing considering it's an 18hr wait between.

Given the Gather skill needed and the fact one could easily obtain a guaranteed HQ crawler cocoon with ease in a short amount of time I'm surprised they made the rewards as low as they did.

For now though I"m keeping my botanist on exploration and moving DoW back to quick ventures since it doesn't appear like a good variety of loot will come from those unless I'm proven wrong through Botanist.

(With the 18hr wait period though considering that a 1hr grants 5 at required gathering skill it would be nice if there was a better mathematical formula where since the gatherer is going to be out for 18hrs couldn't they at least bring back 54(3 per hr) of the rare item that's a mix between NQ and HQ rather than just a low amount of HQ.)

Ah as for getting retainers that high, once you hit 40, doing quick ventures and gaining a rare item like the warwolf mask grants about 250k xp where during that pace you get about 50k a regular 1hr venture. So if you get lucky you can xp a lot faster by scoring big in quick ventures.

Hmm that seems okish to me, no point making it as good as being able to gather it yourself.

The only downside to it is that you can't be guaranteed what you are gathering on those 18 hour explorations, I would much rather have the option to choose what I want.

My lvl50 retainers brought me with a #13venture (18h)
Battleclass: Saurian Skin (500myth points)
Miner: Tawny Latex (150 myth points)
the other 2 (fisher and botanist) brought nothing special. Seems like there are some fine things

Someone can confirm if and how many "rare" fish a retainer can bring back?
Like Silver Shark, Fullmoon Sardine, Razor Clam,..?

Mine are MNK and MIN lvl39 now.
Equipment level is high enough for the current items (~ilvl20 MNK and ~120 gathering for MIN)
So far the only "good" thing I got from exploration were ilvl55 botanist legs from my very first try.
The rest were just some random HQ materials (crap) and some Allagan Bronze Pieces (6-10).
Quick exploration didn't give anything special either.

41 Silver sharks thats as high as my fishing retainer is but yes fullmoon sardine's were like 34 ish level razor clams 20

46-50 is just Northern Pike (46) & Cloud Cutter (48)
41-45 is Silver Shark (41), Raincaller (43), Blacklip Oyster (44)
36-40 is Whitelip Oyster (36), Velodyna Carp (38), Red Coral (40)
31-35 is Indigo Herring (31), Ash Tuna (32), Fullmoon Sardine (34)

As far as quantities: 3 Silver sharks, 7 Razor Clams, 7 Fullmoon Sardines. If you want the rest, let me know ^^ I think I'm limited in how many characters I can put in one post.

Seems like the only realistic way to get to 383 gathering is to get the new tool. I melded everything but the crafted lv48 hatchet and the militia offhand with the max amount of +gathering and best I can get up to is 355.

Yup, since you can't make your retainers eat gathering food, you need to get them one of those nifty new tools, it takes 308 gathering for a fishing retainer since they don't have the off hand tool.
