I just wanted to stop in and officially confirm that this information is correct.

Both Taffeta Cloth and Lightsteel Plates can be obtained by sending your retainers on high level field exploration ventures.

Given the random nature of it, are the quick explorations eligible for it as well? Even if it might be a snowballs chance in hell sort of thing lol.

Crafters can't make money because other crafters smash prices into the ground as fast as they possibly can.

Take the new Tidal Barding for example. Day 1 they were 3m here (and selling). Some people undercut by like 10k or so, which is fine for an item that expensive. Some other people though wanted to undercut by 500k+, so day 2 they were 1.5 million. Some would undercut by 1k (again, fair compared to the actual price), but those other people undercut by 500k+ again. Day 3? They're under 250k now, and not even worth making anymore.

The price literally went from 3m to 250k in 3 @#$%ing days because of like 1-2 people. That is the true reason why crafters can't make any money in the game.

There's a very limited supply of people who would pay 3 million for that. If they were worth 3 million then those cheap ones would have sold quickly and people would be forced to buy the more expensive ones listed. Supply and demand.

Btw someone should go and update xivdb so that the information will be correct for these 2 items.

They're not here to reveal where items in the game are for us. Information was revealed because time has passed and some folks have already found it, but confirmation was still sketchy. Just be thankful there IS confirmation on the matter. Had no one obtained any, and especially if it was much earlier, it would still be left up to the players to try to find information on our own (as a community). There's very little that's not found by the community first.

I got a lightsteel plate earlier today from the iL70 18 hour venture for a 50 DoW/M retainer. I can confirm that the crafted items are in fact also dyable.

I just wanted official confirmation as inaccurate info and speculation will only contribute to the confusion.
So we should all thank SE as they have gave us an answer and a few ppl r able to back it up so let's just leave it as it is and get back to hunting them items.

I got 3 gatherers thinking about changing one to DOW/DOM now didn't think it was a difference table of items you could get
