This is pretty cool. Glad to hear he can still play games. Woot!A friend of mine has a physical handicap that severely limits his motor functions. It's actually pretty amazing what he has been able to do, as he uses the mouse with his left hand (still with great difficulty), while his right hand can do little more than make inputs with one finger. He has to work so much harder to do what we all take for granted and it is truly inspirational to see him in action.
I've seen him perform in some games to the point where you would never know that he was playing with such a severe impairment, but sometimes no matter how hard he tries, he makes a mistake. Every time I'm in a duty finder and someone messes up, I always think of my friend and imagine that many people out there are dealing with hurdles in life that we may not even be able to comprehend.
(my post was too long continued in next post)

BTW, you can edit your post to get over the 1000 character limit.
Also, FFXIV received an award for being handicapped accessible - http://www.ablegamers.com/ablegamers...me-of-the-year
And I totally agree with being compassionate![]()

Sorry to be "That guy" but this isn't going to happen.
In the world we live in now where it is better and socially acceptable to tread someone underfoot to get somewhere is common I seriously doubt that this will convince anyone for even a second.
It is acceptable to belittle someone publicly and applauded.
Where rudeness is commonplace and the word "thank you" is all but dead.

Actually, I have yet to complete a dungeon where everyone did not say "thank you" or "good run" or "good group" or something to that effect. By the way, I was practically in tears reading the initial post. I hope that everyone can remember that they all ran a dungeon for a first time.

While I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) usually say thanks at the end for a smooth/clear run of a dungeon, a lot of people just say it at the end fishing for commendations. I guess either way it helps the atmosphere... just that not all of those "thanks" are necessarily genuine.

"Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."

Stories like the OP make me happy. It's always good to hear someone not letting obstacles keep them from doing something they enjoy.
And it's a good reminder that, no matter how much time we spend playing, or how seriously we take it, it's still just a game. If someone makes a mistake, it's not the end of the world.

Great post OP. I'm glad to hear this and it truly warms my heart![]()
I am a winner, even though I sometimes fail.

Great post. The MMO culture that is littered with sociopaths/anarchists needs more stories like this to show them what empathy really is.

Maybe change that line just a little bit. But yeah I've seen some pretty inspirational videos about handicap people playing games and sometimes well enough to be inspiring to others. This is not related to Final Fantasy but it's sort of the same deal with a handicap player playing amongst the best of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83nSodg-HTU
Idk, I was kind of trying to make a point. I realized using the word "retard" comes off insensitive, but that right there was my point. People throw that word around like it means nothing, but there are many people out there that live with different degrees of mental debilitation, many of which are perfectly capable of understanding what the word "retard" means when used in a negative connotation.Maybe change that line just a little bit.
