While I hate tacky "wild hairstyles", I do like a good "the end is nigh" statement. +1Takes far too long to have updates. They should have a team at least updating the aesthetics of the game in the meantime, getting back to basics, Final Fantasy looking armor, weapons, models, wild hairstyles and new looks, all that "easy stuff" that has no impact whatsoever on their precious battle system upgrades.
I'm sorry, but if anyone thinks this game has two years to get up to standard they're delusional. Hell, SE itself will release another FFO by then. This game needs to be complete and up to par with the newly-released MMOs this year, have good Christmas sales, or it's going to get flushed. They have 5 months left.
How do you know what direction they are taking the game? Just because they put in auto-attack and quest hubs?omg. I don't have an ulterior motive to bring these forums into chaos! I merely want to point out the fallacy in Yoshi's decisions as director. This direction they are taking the game is hardly toward a quality one. Unless by quality game you mean cheap imitation of something better.
No one knows what direction they're going in because there is no direction. They're just meandering about, stealing ideas left and right from old-gen MMOs that seemed to attract a lot of customers.
Talk about sleazy.
"Wild hairstyles" is what Final Fantasy is. Just an example of many things this game completely lacks, but the first thing that came to mind. I'm an artist. I like to be unique. Impossibility in this game.
Ugh, the stupid spiky Miqote hairstyle is bad enough. I have half a mind to delete it from my files so I don't have to look at the hideous aberration that is that thing. As an artist, I would have thought you of all people would know better.
I'd be fairly happy with rendered hair that moves, as opposed to play-doh block style 1,2,3z.
wild hairstyles is a + especially when combined with not wild hairstyles, it gives a variety in game, and allows for you to hate their wild harstyles, as it is, its pretty hard to hate peoples hairstyles, because some races only got like 4 options.
also the gear choices, while well done, a very few, and only cover a few styles of dress. there really isnt that much differing styles to choose from as it is.
I suppose I see your point but without open-world FFA PvP I cannot vent my hatred of people by killing them. Another thing. Variety isn't always a perfect solution. If it was, then there would be no limit to what could and should be implemented into FFXIV, and quite frankly I don't want to play some Eorzea/flying UFO/anime superhero mashup. Artistic restraint is sometimes necessary (and it should prevail over variety in most cases) simply by virtue of the fact that fantasy worlds need some semblance of consistency.
Look at GW2 if you want an example of a fantasy world with no artistic consistency.
Do we really want that crap in FFXIV? I ask you that.
You don't know that either. Just because they're putting in some features that seem like they are common, doesn't mean the game will play like any other mmo. Taking something "standard" and remaking it into their own thing is kinda a gift Japan is known for.
I've no doubt Yoshi-P has been listening to the FF fan crowd. Those "standard" featues just might pull in the customers they need, leaving them room to innovate to their hearts content after that.
I know, I don't "know" that, but it makes more sense than they are "just being sleazy".
people from different cultures got different hairstyles, even now in our global village, some cultures a bound to have fancy and weird people you might not want to associate with. Much as they may find other peoples normalness offensive.I suppose I see your point but without open-world FFA PvP I cannot vent my hatred of people by killing them. You see my problem?

More options the better, if they want to tie new hairstyles to regions, or cultures, that would only be cooler. Lets say to get the new hairstyles, you might have to explore some far off town with flamboyant people in it. Or go deep into garlean territory for more military hairstyles/dress.
that would only advance the world, and gameplay imo
and yeah, just like irl some people just like wild hair, nothing wrong with that, look at google search wild hair
