    Duty Finder Coil

I've been playing a short while, but I don't know anyone in game or have a fc so I've been looking forward to finally being able to try through duty finder and finally get the experience everybody requires.

Taking in to account the echo buff and faster myth to be able to start T1 in I90 making it a bit easier, I'm just curious on peoples thoughts on how far you could take it with df with random people, some who will be new like me. Will it be a CT like bitch fest with little progress or once it's been open for a while will we see duty finders doing T5?

How do you reckon this is going to go down?

It'll be fine, I practiced and cleared my Titan EX with random people via df pre 2.2.
Imho, solo df just makes easier for the ones wanna practice instead of spending time on forming pt all the time.
    Practice makes it perfect.

Plus the T1-T5 coil gears are like the darklight gears pre 2.2, no one gonna care much.
    It's about iLv100+ gears now.

Personally, I imagine it being even worse than using Party Finder.
More people have been using Party Finder since Atma became a thing.
Before, I think it was just largely ignored, but I've gotten decent mileage out of it.
Actively setting up PF with the expectation that its a learning party has helped me get into stuff I wanna get into.
It will take longer, but with that expectation, I tend to get more people that are at least willing to learn.
Especially since you're waiting for people to join, there seems to be less laziness.
Setting it up as a learning party sets that expectation and I seem to have more luck than the ones for serious play/high ilvl requirements, must know fight, sacrifice a small goat, etc.

EDIT: Your mileage is going to vary, really. Me and the previous poster have had extremely different results with it, lol.
Different people on different servers also have some incredibly varying party finder results, etc.

It might be a little rough, but it's hard to say. I imagine things might normalize eventually as far as strategies go (or new ones might pop up given increased damage and hp numbers). I've noticed that many of the people doing this content have been doing it with statics for a long time and have a specific strategy in mind for each turn, but other players have different strategies in mind. It's not quite as bad as relearning it, but there can be issues with getting everybody on board with 1 strategy. There's also the usual drama of people leaving after a single wipe because, "I never would have come if I knew this was a learning group for a bunch of %&*^ing noobz!" (even though many people are wearing a lot of Allagan gear).

This! I did have one group where the tank would handle Cad in a particular spot in Turn 1, but it was an absolutely terrible spot for melee because you couldn't avoid the platforms for slime spawns. If you tried to jump in the only safe zone in the area, which would be the one she tanked at, because of the way she positioned, you'd get murdered by cleave.

Absolutely would not change her position at all because "that's the way I've been doing this for months." No melee in static group, I'm guessing. Eventually adjusted positioning after we kept wiping and eventually people kept complaining, but some people just are not flexible at all. I imagine it'll be worse in DF for people learning the fight.

It will not be pretty since most people are used to a certain way of doing things without understanding the logic behind it and can't adapt. Turn 1 is already bad enough I don't see people beating turn 5 in Duty Finder.

Honestly it will depend on the people you get since there's quite a bit of wiggle room as far as how coil fights can be handled. Turn 1 has extremely straightforward mechanics, turn 2 has the enrage which is hard to mess up (although you will need to deal with only 2 healers in DF which isn't really an issue). Turn 3 can be ran through with little effort. Turn 4 really is probably going to be a hurdle for many DF groups as it is a significant check in coordination and teamwork that tends to be lacking in random groups and on top of that has several different ways it can be done so not everyone may be on the same page.

Turn 1 variables will likely be where the snakes are tanked, number of slimes fed, and if the DPS are splitting up or focusing one snake at a time which is easily done just by talking to the rest of the group.

I've done more than my fair share of PF Turn 1s and honestly the only problem i've run into has been that you REALLY need to have someone trigger tail swipes on the snake your party isn't focused on as it helps a ton with slowing down incoming damage. It's probably why I prefer the split DPS method.

The Echo buff is going to help a lot though. The increase in DPS will make getting the snakes down in T1 before their attack buff gets too high a lot easier, the healing buff and damage buff will make T2 easier to deal with with the 2/2/4 party setup, and the DPS increase will make it much easier to clear enemies and reduce/manage incoming damage within each wave in T4.

They should put a lot of time on the time limit for turn 5,
Like perhaps 120 or something like that cuz if it was just 50 mins.
People would get wrecked too fast without being able to adjust to each other's playstyle.
It happens a lot in titan ex with echo buff.
By the time everyone is buffed at 25% and the fact that you know you guys can get that kill as the last attempt made him drop to 5% hp, the the thing that prevents you is the time limit ad there would only be like 5 mins left. People would be like damn, great group/ good attempts but just not enough time.
It sucks when u learn with a random group of ppl and become so close to achieving the goal yet to only be denied by the time limit
