So I hit 50 the other day and now I'm kinda struggling...

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but since I'm new to endgame, I figured this would be the right place post.

I hit 50 over the weekend and finished the storyline and now I'm unsure how to gear up. My ilvl is only 51 and I'm unsure what to do to get better gear. I mean, I could buy parts of the Vanya set (I'm a scholar) on the Market Board, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea.
Oh and when it comes to Myth Gear (which I guess is one of those ways to gear up), what should I prioritize?

First things first, you can get to I level 55 easy with grand company gear and get I 55 weapon at the Grand company too. Next is to farm WP and CT to get drops. Then move onto ifrit for weapon drop. With all the farming, you will have a mix of I55, myth and CT gear then move on to get your relic.

If your confident in your ability, you can strictly do CT for all I80 gear or better yet, run with your FC to do hard mode dungeon for myth farming. Try to save your myth for your relic weapon. Doing all this just cost you time not gil.

I think with 2.2 its entirely possible to skip i70/i80 phase and just start farming myth tomes in class-quest AF gear (main scenario roulette, low roulette, HM dungeons, CT etc.), using drops from them as a temp substitute. With lots of overgeared people doing roulettes you can be carried just fine, as long as you can toss half-decent healing.
Myth gear priority, i think, looks like relic->left side, starting from chest item->accessories, but may vary with drops. If you will get book from Titan, for instance, then it's completely safe to skip relic for awhile.

If you duty finder for a carry expect some people to say bad things about your gear. It's up to you which route you want to go whether you want to follow the progression or skip some levels.

Wanted to warn you aswell: If you follow FurryFury's tip, you CAN go for hm roulette Dungeons but you will face many pretty mean people who blames you for your gear. So it's up to you.

I think Crystal Tower is a good start. You really go anonym there and gear up. WP and AK are also easy dungeons for you to farm stones.

Go straight for your Relic weapon, everyone told me to farm Primals for a weapon drop but I just went straight for my Relic weapon, and it worked out fine.

That and farm Crystal Tower. You're going to be real sick of that place, real soon.

I agree that you can now "farm" Ct for the gear itself. And Relic i would also recommend as getting before anything, dl gear now drop in dungeons so there is that as well.

I recently hit 50 as well and I've been doing standard lv 50 instances as well as CT runs. I've also been using any tomes I've been getting for gear as well. I didn't want to continue with my relic quest and do titan HM until my ilvl was a bit higher. I was luck and got my mnk weapon the first time I did Ifrit HM. Didn't want to drag everyone else down with my sub-standard gear.

Well Titan HM i believe i got by with ilv 57 gear if i recall, ilv 60 or higher would just make it easier to survive some damage but the fight is more about avoiding the damage, lol
