That's not a bad idea to start, though I'm sure many would agree that the NPC market value of many items is abysmally low. We don't want to short-change ourselves, however we don't want grossly overpriced goods (I mean, the new i90 gear almost standard at 1,000,000? I instantly removed those items from my wish list to lower the demand. That's just absurd.)

I don't believe it could happen overnight, or even within a week, but if the crafters take charge and set reasonable ranges to work within throughout the market, it may not affect competition (other than making bots/excessive undercutters very obvious), but it WILL drive sales. Would you rather sell 5 items at say 500 gil in a few minutes, or 1 item at 2500 gil in a week?

Personally speaking, I'm no master crafter, but I've made a commitment to myself: I will not sell items lv. 20 or lower for more than 2000 (and even then that's a high limit), and once I can make master crafts, I will not exceed 20K in my pricing (again, that's a very high limit).
