I think to make parry useful, they should make it do some damage, as well as block some. Since if we go to google.com "parry" we get:
par·ry
ˈparē/Submit
verb
1.
ward off (a weapon or attack), especially with a countermove.
"he parried the blow by holding his sword vertically"
synonyms: ward off, fend off; More
Where is the countermove eh?
I personally think both tanks should get an On Parry attack similar to Shield Swipe. Give players more reason to consider defensive stats, than 1-2% generalized reduction.I think to make parry useful, they should make it do some damage, as well as block some. "Especially" in dictionary context means the word can be used without that additional definition, but the additional definition is also common.I think to make parry useful, they should make it do some damage, as well as block some. Since if we go to google.com "parry" we get:

Also, for future reference, the counteract done after a parry is called a riposte. I do think adding a move that procs on parry would be a smart idea.
Yes it would make parry the clear winner, and reward players with good reaction times.
The countermove is simply moving your weapon in place to ward off the attack and is not the same thing as a counter-attack.
We have one. It's called Shield Swipe and it adds pacify to the target. It also has a reasonably high potency, it's only catch being that it generates no additional threat compared to our other skills.
I agree that parry needs to be looked at with a bit more care, but I wouldn't call it completely useless. Much like spell speed, it's certainly not a stat you'd want to run empty on simply because the benefits are only noticed when it's well-stacked.
Shield Swipe is after a block, not a parry? Or does it activate off of parry? Also warriors don't get anything like this...
Parry is actually the only mitigation that DOESN'T have a proc followup, in the vein of Shield Swipe/Haymaker.
I would be up for Parry follow up atk as I play PLD ;P I love proc atk.
you wont get much use out of it as WAR tho as they will be busy keeping de-buff, Aggro, and building wrath. ;P
