What about BoP gear for crafters?

It's pretty obvious that SE doesn't want crafters to play a big role in the game.
In fact, the only content which requires a crafter is the relic weapon quest.
For the rest of the game the only thing in demand is buff food and maybe stat potions.
There are no consumables required for skills or as ammunition, and equipment can be acquired in dungeons or through quests, leves , GC seals or tomestones.

So, most of the items we make are just for ourself or to provide us with the materials we need for our crafts.

Hopes were high for patch 2.2, but with the new master books and 3 star recipes we just got another grind with mediocre rewards.

While I understand that SE doesn't want crafters to provide top gear because that could make dungeon/raid drops pointless, I'd like to know why crafters who put alot of work, time and gil in their classes, can't make real endgame gear which is on a par with current tomestone gear.

Not only are the stats of an NQ crafted ilvl90 item similar to that of an ilvl80 CT item, but if you manage to get HQ you end up with gear similar to the current mythology gear.
The only differences are that the crafted items require more tomestones and other resources, and that you can meld them if you invest alot of time in creating materia or throw enough gil at it.
If it's HQ and overmelded you have an item which is a bit better than the ilvl90 mythology/allagan gear, but your item level doesn't represent this.
Even if the crafted gear would be as strong as the new Coil drops, as long as the item level doesn't show that, you might get problems trying to join parties via PF.

I still like crafting and I don't mind the grind or high requirements, but the endresult is kinda underwhelming considering to the effort.

So, as the title of this thread says, what about bind on pickup gear for crafters?
Let us craft real endgame gear for ourself which can't be sold or traded.

Of course there are many other ways to make crafting more rewarding besides gil, like:
    - improve overmeld chances of 100% spiritbond items for crafters who meld their own equipment
    - increase primary and secondary stat caps when melding 100% spiritbond items for yourself
    - let us improve our gear by crafting a special untradable version with an additional materia slot

OP isnt complaining about the gil. Read the post. He's talking about crafters being able to craft or improve things usable for themselves.

Gil is pointless in this game anyways.

I'd really dislike this because it'd pretty much screw us Pure Crafters. Crafting + Gathering currently works pretty well as its own alternate progression path rather than something that ties into and supports Raiding progression, at least in terms of clearing any existing story content outside Turn 2.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "screw us Pure Crafters".
I don't mean that any of the already existing items/recipes should be made BoP.

Yes, you can craft (raid-) gear for yourself and others, but it requires alot more effort compared to running Coil, and more tomestones than just buying mythology gear.
And crafting for the sake of crafting isn't very motivating in my opinion.

I think crafters should have the ability to make something really good for themself if they want to. Not overpowered but on par with the ilvl110 gear when HQ and melded.
EDIT: Make it hard to get but make it worth the time.

As I said, this is not about earning gil or something like that. It's simply a matter of giving crafters one more goal to work towards, and to reward them for the effort they put into their class.
I doubt this would make everyone level all DoH to 50 just to craft these items, because it would still take alot more time, gil and dedication than running dungeons, CT or T1-T4.

Whether or not it's more effort is dependent on whether or not you actually enjoy dungeon-grinding, though? I enjoy crafting and find it relaxing while I find having to run multiple dungeons a night tedious. Maybe I can gear-up faster via dungeon drops but as this is a game I'm going to pick the route that offers me more actual enjoyment.

    That's right.
If you enjoy crafting but don't like dungeon grinding you can buy the materials you need from players who farm seals/tomes.
But you can only gear up to a certain point like that, without joining the dungeon/raid grind, no matter how much effort you put into crafting.
The best gear you can make without running dungeons is the new ilvl90 stuff and the ilvl70 weapons. That's the limit for people who would like to craft their own equipment to beat the available content.

Now, don't get me wrong. The best equipment should always come from the hardest content. But it should be possible to get the next lower tier of equipment by crafting too, and to make that fair and prevent abuse, these items should be bound to the crafter so people can't just go and buy their way up.
