crafting? It serves three purposes:
1: Quality gear for 'lowbie' classes so they aren't nearly as dependent on dungeon drops as they level up at a breakneck pace.
2: Establish a 'baseline' gear level for endgame content (i55 intro gear, i70 for those with deep pockets, i90 if you're too rich to care anymore)
3: Wasting time and gil.
