I don't get why so much fuss about it, Atma is not even required, If you don't like it, just don't do it. There are other choices, like Farm Leviathan or even Turn 5 now that it is spammable.

"required" at level cap is such a terrible word. what is required? EX isn't required, Coil isn't required, Relics aren't required, farming tomes aren't required. how do you define required?

atmas are required to progress through this quest to the next step which they have said will be expanded in future patches.

They also already said atma will be easier to obtain later. So if you don't have the patience to do it now then wait.... You will not get a better weapon doing it now.... You will just be a little closer then others when they expand upon the quest.

i'd imagine atma will be like everything else in the game and get nerfed at some point. they made the relic reborn quest easier when they nerfed chimera. and they further made it easier by making ak easier without the bees. they just made getting the zenith weapon faster by getting rid of the myth cap. i'm sure with all the complaints the atma quest has gotten that changes will be made too.

and then when it gets nerfed we will have several threads complaining at how stupid it is for SE to nerf things making accomplishments "worthless."

I have pretty much stopped playing over this, and will cancel sooner or later. As a casual yet devoted player (ilevel 88) I haven't been able to get a Duty Finder group through Garuda EX after dozens of tries - so Leviathan EX is out of reach. And I'm simply not going to spend dozens of hours farming ATMA weapons when it took a developer dozens of minutes to put the quest together; I've already done these fates, and it's crazy lazy to think I would want to do them again. I'm happy taking the long road, but it needs to be attainable - I would rather just pay 10,000 tomes of myth, for instance, since I can slowly chip away at that by doing instances and having fun.

People, it's luck based so don't stress too much on this stuff.
I know you want progression, but if they aren't going to change you have to change your play style so you don't get stressed over this stuff.

I tried a whole day of Atma farming yesterday with full on FATE grinding none-stop.

On JP client so the names might be different.

Did as Warrior
Central Thalanan - 8 hours -NO ATMA DROP
Central Lanosea - 2 hours - NO ATMA DROP
Lower Lanosea - 5 minutes - ATMA DROP!
Central Lanosea - 2 hours - ATMA DROP!
Central Shroud - 2 hours - NO ATMA DROP

It's pure luck, it's probably better to move after grinding in one area for 2 hours or even better just do all the FATE in that area once and if nothing drops just move on to another area and come back to it later.
It's not worth stressing out over, it's just one part of the game and you have more time to do it. Sure some got it finished right away, some in 12 hours, some over 80hrs and still not complete. Fully depending on luck based system isn't my favorite but I see why it's there, I try not to stress over this type of system anymore (learned my lesson from XI lol). Just do it when you can, if you're lucky you'll get it, if you're going to get all angry over it, there are other options for you to choose from. In future this content will be eased just like others so you'll progress but don't push yourself too hard.

I've got to say the people on these forums really amaze me. It's been what, barely two weeks? I never thought grinding took a lot of mental fortitude or emotional strength, but I now see I must have all along been made out of sterner stuff. Does it just bother people that it's out of their control? Do they really internally justify with some false understanding of probability? Does everyone really grind with their teeth clenched, spitting and cursing at every drop they deserved? I just cannot understand this at all. It's your right to spend your time how you want, if you sit for 8 hours doing something you hate it's your own fault you're the one to blame.

Can someone try to justify the current Atma methods because I simply cannot see how RNG for a quest is a good idea.
