    Beckon of the Elementals

This is far from the first time I've noticed this crass grammatical mistake, but it's a good instance to start pointing it out:

In the quest "Beckon of the Elementals" in Gridania, Yda, the Miqo'te from the introduction says to brother E-sumi: "I wouldn't think you the type to kill to keep secrets, good Brother. You'd have to kill Papalymo and I as well, no?"

This of course should read "...You'd have to kill Papalymo and ME as well, no?"

Regardless of how common the mistaken usage has become, it's still shunned by all manuals and guides of style and usage and by all the core grammar texts of the language. Papalymo and Yda are the OBJECTS of the verb "to kill", therefore, replacing any of their names by a pronoun should be done in the accusative, which in English corresponds to the objective pronoun ("me,") and under no circumstances to the Personal pronoun ("I.")

The mistaken usage is perpetuated nowadays even by some of the most educated and illustrious Anericans, among them, our president. But as the language and its practice stand today, it's a major mistake.

I honestly don't think that such a mistake was a bad thing, at least if the character's language remains constant. Dialogue from a character can break grammatical rules because it brings out the character's personality, even with something as small as that.

Typos are epic when you're correcting grammar, aren't they?

Perhaps you should complain about the pirate/marauder npcs as well? I can't even read that stuff, I just get through it and gtfo. It seriously gives me a headache trying to read it. Pretty much as bad as tarus did in FFXI. However that is used for character, as should this..

I agree with this guy, its not that bad of a mistake and gives the,box personality as pong as its usage remains constant.

And if we take into account WHO the character is, a few grammar errors do make sense in the context =P

Well, then build the character to speak the sort of colloquial English that frequently includes the mistake. But there's nothing in her speech that allows for the one flagrant mistake, it's inconsistent. Actually, she's quite well spoken and florid... and likes her grammar, I know... been hanging with her.

Thanks go to you, and all your colleagues working on the US localization, Eemeefu. Through your efforts, Eorzea will indeed be a better place.
