I'm using a 1200 watt power supply so i dont think that would be my issue.

There are good 700 Watt PSU's and there are bad 700 Watt PSUs. Bad 700 Watt PSU's can only hold 550ish Watts. Good 700 Watt ( Good long lasting parts that won't break easily) can easily handle 1 GTX 650.

I know this because of multiple failure PSU products that are cheap.. Cheap doesn't always mean good XD.

Using a calculator for wattage, I put some crazy stuff into the equation and even with 30% capacitor aging, as well as maxed out cpu and a gtx 670, it still caluclates to 722w. A 1200w should be plenty. Plus no one has specified exactly what kind of crash they are having. I found a program online that tells me what program has focus and was finding things like Apple cloud and citrix receiver were pulling me from the game to the desktop. The first place I would check is to see what the error states in computer management, in the event logs assuming it doesn't tell you why it crashed. Also too aggressive of an overclock can do this as well.

Well, naturally you want to have a 100-200 watt cushion to what your whole computer can handle.

1200 watts is plenty and you can never go wrong with more watts :P, good for when you want to upgrade. However, a Good 900 Watt (Gold) will be decent enough for the card + computer .

Even though a 1200w should be plenty, it also depends on the design of the PSU. Is it a single rail, multi-rail... model# would be helpful. But with that said, I highly doubt the PSU is the main issue. Although the only way to tell is to have it tested.

True, I agree when there is a hardware problem, it's sometimes hard to tell what the problem is exactly without a deeper analysis.

I think you guys are over calculating the amount it takes to power a single 780. I have a 650 watt gold seasonic psu w/ a 780 and I rarely crash. If I do it is because I'm running all sort of crazy stuff on my other monitor that i know sometimes causes conflicts and locks up my pc.

    In short:

    1. Check ALL drivers for your hardware
    2. Check back ground programs (don't be running origin and shiz like that)
    3. If you overclocked your card that maybe it.
    4. If you run sweetfx that may be causing it as well. (even more so if you are part of "fight club") and run the thing that should not be named.

Oh based on your current info, gigabyte card... maybe you have a lemon. May have to rma :/

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.
