    You know it occurs to me that the Mender's Ward is utterly useless, even if it were being used to some extent for its true purpose it's full of overflow retainers... and so, practically speaking, it may as well not exist.

    Yes...good thought. Although the better option might be to dismiss retainers from the ward that no longer have an item relevant to that ward on them for sale/repair.
