After thinking about it for a few minutes, I tend to agree with the OP. I like the idea suggested about one buying old equip, repairing, and reselling as a viable money-making opportunity.

The only issue I would see is the outcry of whining if they don't know what the current item condition is until they reach the retainer. That's just one more piece of information that would have to be added to the search function. Not all that hard to do, but a necessary step.
