    Mint condition?!

I read alot of stuff about this game even before i started to play, so i wasnt surprised by its many many faults, but today i experienced something i wasnt aware off and was pretty surprised.
They dont let us sell gear on wards that isnt 100% mint conditions? I mean i already hate the gear degradation system and repairs but i get it, it simulates reality, stuff breaks ok fine. But telling me i cant sell used stuff unless i repair it?! it makes the reality thing useless, I should be able to sell it and leave it the buyer to decide whats worth repairing. I mean i can sell my car with no sits or tires if someone is willing to buy it! What they do with broken stuff is not my concern.

Well no one really wants to buy some thing "used" and not in "mint condition"

I would think this more in a videogame, then in R/L. Unless the broken item can be repaired into some legendary artifactish item/weapon/armor I wouldn't want to buy a broken piece of equipment. Mainly because now I have to repair it.

Problem i do see however is that the NPC will not repair an item to full. So you have to find a crafter or repair it yourself before you can sell it. But I do not think this a serious issue.

If you are good at repairing things, then it's worth it for you to buy it at a discount. You could snag hard to fix gear cheap, fix it and turn a profit.

This is an interesting idea. Buying junk and repairing/reselling would be an additional little thing to do for those who felt so inclined. Also, repairing gear or having gear repaired is not generally an earth shattering task.

There was an issue in XI where people were 'tricked' into buying items with low or zero charges. (It was pretty easy to miss the current charge in the string of numbers.) I would guess this restriction is in response to that.

I agree with Naylia, if lets say theres this armor for example that costs 100k at 100% condition and i own it and wear it for a while and leave it at 85% but then get something better and i wanna sell it but don't wanna waste my time asking for other players to repair it or repair ir myself, npcs only give 10k for it what would make me lose alot of money, wouldn't it be more advantegous for me to sell it at 50k for example to someone with the time and patience for this repair crap ?
I'm just saying either let us sell our stuff easly in this already retainer broken world, or let the repairs npc repair our stuff to 100% so i can sell my stuff without wasting more time then it already takes to manage the freaking retainer baazar.

They need to simplify this problem by having vendors repair gear to 100%.

I vaguely recall the complaint against this move was that it would invalidate an important aspect of the crafting system by rendering crafters superfluous.

Note: I'm not claiming that as my argument for or against it, just stating what I recall to be, generally, the complaint levied against it by others.

My personal opinion is that it should be 100% if the current cost of repairs is maintained, and should also include accessories. If the repair cost is dropped to something closer to sane then the 75% might be palatable.

I thought I read something about SE wanting players to sell gear regardless of it's current condition. They always talked about players selling gear at different prices because of multiple variables involved with the item, like condition, materia, color, they even had a system they talked about where you could customize your equipments appearance. That was the original point of the market wards right? Being able to sell gear for the price you feel is right by examining all the variables you put into the item.
