Hope you're right, Zen.Just like in FFXI you would upgrade the wep more and more. Right now the best weps are always Allgan but it's going to get to the point that the relic wep would be the best one. It would have more and more upgrade so it's better to do all the upgrade as they come for the job you know you going to play the longest even if new jobs come out.
Also. WELCOME TO THE MASTER RACE
Actually the Weapon will self upgrade itself for each task you complete from the book.
The upgrade to Atma into Animus is slow but the weapon becomes self upgrade.
Basically for each book you buy for 1500 myth the task in those books will upgrade your Atma a bit by adding more stats into the weapon.
Complete 50% of the task you will have at least 50% of Animus's stats already in Atma.
I remember images showing how the upgrade works but I lost it on the forums.
Ah found it

How did you bring that up? ^

Well I did say comparable, they don't have to be "as" good, but considering the work they should definitely be better than the Leviathan EX weapons.
I'll just shorten things and say..
Animus isn't worthless it is just the long process to get it from Atma into Animus that make it appear worthless when there are other weapons already in ilvl 100 released in 2.2 that has those ilvl 100 stats instantly like the Weathered Weapons and Leviathan's Weapon upgraded version.
As of now it seems SE is taking Relics as the Starter Endgame weapons instead of being the best weapons.

What key did you press to bring that screen up please? ^

From what I can see, use the book.
The i100 Animus relic is more than enough for how 'challenging' it is to get. Sure, it requires you to grind (and thus requires patience/time which in its own way is nice), but it doesn't even require you to do any hard content on farm. For instance, Leviathan EX drops i95 weapons which you can upgrade into i100's to correspond with an Animus relic, depending on their respective 2ndary bonuses (some Animus being better, some Tidal wave weapons being better). The catch being here that to upgrade your Leviathan EX weapon from i95->100, you need an item called "Mirror of the Whorl", which is a rollable, rare(-ish) drop from the same boss. I have killed Levi EX 4 times now and haven't seen it once (not complaining, fight is fun). What about the weathered masterworks, also i100? Well, for those, you need to beat Coil T7, as in addition to 1300 Soldiery, they require an item called "Unidentified allagan tomestone", which drops from T7, also being a rollable drop.
So to break it down, you have 3 i100 weapons. For one, you need to do a challenging extreme primal on farm and hope for your weapon AND the mirror to get it to i100. For the other, you need to beat T7 and luck out with the tomestone, also saving 3 weeks worth of soldiery. Then you have the i100 Animus, for which you need to do, what, tedious fate-grinding and myth gathering, with some easy challenge logs on top. And it is not even the weapon's final form yet. I am gonna be more than satisfied with my Omnilex Animus, whilst working on the other stuff, too.

They do seem weak right now, and they take a long time to make, but they are upgrading them again in 2.25, at which point they might be i110 (or maybe just i105). I know Yoshida said they'd continue the upgrades in 2.25 and 2.3, but I'm not sure if 2.35 will get an upgrade as well. Eventually these weapons might be comparable to high allagan, or at least second to HA, but that may be after yet another 13,500 myth or similar (or more).
