I feel that this game has plenty to keep ps3 players occupied for the duration of the game as long as the fix list gets finished before that point. I personally know would be PS3 players that are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the ps3 version so they can level and be ready for the new content. Granted, the new content in 1.18/1.19 will not be enough to satiate the player base for long. I would hope, however, that the ps3 version would be released soon to allow the community to grow and let other players start developing characters (who already would be if they could afford PCs to run the game, at least in my friends cases). But if the future content, post this summers fixes, really wont be implemented faster after 1.18 this plan wouldn't work. If the list we have will be implemented within this summer and new content is ready to be released shortly after that I really hope the game is released on ps3 as soon as possible. I want my friends back in the game I play and having more ppl around in an MMO never hurts. I can't say one way or the other whether they have enough content backed up or almost ready to release the PS3 version. I can say however that this game isn't getting any younger. We act like its new, due to changes in staff and soon to be in game changes, but in reality it has been out for almost a year. I have spent that year trying to keep up hopes among my friends about the possibility of playing this game (as my RL friends were my FFXI static since there are six of us total that MMO togther) but its getting hard to keep convincing them the game is changing enough to be on PS3 soon without input from the devs. I feel that if its possible 1.20 should be PS3 release and the game can continue to grow from there with new players and, at least in our small case, a happier community.

Personally, I think all the speculation in unnecessary. SE will not throw any dates out there for future patches and additions to the game (a few rough estimates at best), so what makes you think that they will give a release date for the PS3?? Be realistic (and reasonable), And don't expect the PS3 release this year. If it comes before then, it'll be a pleasant surprise. But there is soooo much they still NEED to do, and then there are the few things they still WANT to do...

It was said by Devs that the PS3 version will be their last chance... in other words, it has to be perfect before it comes out. Understand, if they release it prematurely it will be the end of this game.

Maybe, but I feel that it is reasonable to expect it this year. I think that the speculation problem is coming from the people who want this game to be too much at release and the long wait is gonna hurt the game just as bad as a rushed release (long time gap here so obviously the world has grown familiar with MMO properties, but look at ffxi website at release on time machine link I think Reinhart posted). I am not calling for a rushed release, just a well timed one that isn't unnecessarily far into the future. I know that everyone I know is happy with the changes that are to be made and feel that after the fixes they have in their summer list this game will be fine as a basic MMO that is ready to be expanded on. No need to lock out other players I feel. Right now other than things they have on their list I really only want them to keep adding content and fix the jumpiness many of us experience while running downhill.

I'm doing a copy-pasta of my post on the suggestions board because i think it's relevant here.

With all the demand for high level content, i feel that the importance of low level content is often forgotten. It certainly was in Final Fantasy XI.

I feel that a successful MMO, and most particularly one with an expanding level cap, will have a plethora of content for all levels. In terms of player retention, it is important that non grinding options are flooded into the Rank 10 range. Else many players are likely to become bored with the game while grinding to the first major swath of content at rank 20 and beyond.

The Rank 1-20 areas outside each starter city comprise 2 complete areas of map. Each are large enough to house 2 or 3 beastman tribes. These camps can look unique and require a unique set of tactics to raid while using the same set of graphics content.

There should also be an instanced 4 or 8 player party dungeon with boss(s) for each Rank 10 and Rank 15 players for each starter city. That is 3 Rank 10 dungeons and 3 Rank 15 Dungeons.

    That's just a bare minimum.

I feel this is critical to include in the game before any PS3 release is considered.

Also know that many critics that will review the PS3 launch, will not play to rank 20 or 30.
It is slightly pessimistic, but true. You want players AND critics to have a strong first impression.

    The bottom line:
Don't forget Rank 10 content, and furthermore, even have a beastman tribe for Rank 1-5 players. Give them somewhere exciting to go from the moment they step outside the city gates.

Retention is the life and death of any business.
